H2O,

Feel free to support McConnell. I certainly feel free to support his challenger Matt Bevin.

I agree completely. The Precinct Project is a good start and so is the Leadership Institute. FReepers or those interested in being or developing a candidate or managing a campaign need education and experience. We need a farm club and it really starts at the lower offices. I am much more confident in electing someone who gets politics and you don’t always find the kind of effective political leaders in business. There is a beneficial art to political experience. We talk a lot about level one: getting elected. But being able to implement an agenda as an executive or move policy as a legislator is critical. As we can see with Obama no experience = big mess. Seeing him disclaim any responsibility for the poor management and implementation of his signature legislation/policy just shows how utterly incompetent he is. He must live in a good news only bubble. I’d be worried about everything that did go wrong. But it’s somebody else’s money and...he’s Obama.

Mile. The green kind. Carlo3.

That wasn't the Green Mile thing with Carlo3 IMO. That was full scale suicide by ZOT!

Hey, it’s a free country.

I’ll make you a deal: if Bevin wins the primary, I’ll hold my nose and support him against Grimey (as she lrefers to be called). Will you likewise promise to support McConnell if he wins the primary?

I’m always glad to find a fellow FReeper who recognizes the importance of the GOP building a strong farm system to provide us with a stable of experienced conservative candidates for higher office. A conservative can win a statewide election in Delaware; a conservative nobody can’t, though.

Excessive Troll harvesting ,eh?

Best we spray their fur in Orange Paint and set up a Charity against Troll clubbing...
It is just so cruel and unnecessary when synthetic alternatives are available...

If McConnell wins the primary I’d vote for him in the general against a Democrat if I lived in Kentucky (which I don’t). However, I’d never donate a dime to his campaign (I’ll leave that up to the GOPe’s NRC and their other committees) or do volunteer GOTV phone calls in support of his campaign. I do contribute to Bevin’s campaign and organizations that support candidates such as his.

Boy, talk about a “conservative” eating a conservative. Your post looks like it could have come directly from the McConnell campaign playbook.

MIT issue — put down the McConnell Super Purple Kool-Aid for a second and step away from the cheap, political soundbite. I invite you to read:

http://mudslingingmitch.com/?page_id=20

Anyone who actually LOOKS INTO the McConnell claim will see it’s bogus. Most serious people have moved well past this garbage.

It’s disappointing that you resort to name calling (”Paultard” - is this 4th grade??).

Foreign Policy - again, if you look past your McConnell playbook script and actually go read what Bevin says about his foreign policy stance, you’ll be embarrassed. From his own page:

“America has the strongest military in the world and we must keep it that way. But we cannot be reckless in how and where we use that strength. As a veteran, Matt personally appreciates how important this is. Before voting to send our soldiers to war, Matt will be guided by two key questions: Is it in our national interest and is it in keeping with our constitutional principles? Matt will oppose all engagements that do not meet these two fundamental criteria. Anything less is unfair to the soldiers who put their lives on the line and unfair to the taxpayers that pay the bills.

“Matt will also fight to reform our broken foreign aid system that sends billions of taxpayer dollars to entities or countries that support terrorism and don’t enhance our interests. Finally, Matt will fight against any foreign treaty, such as the New START and LOST treaties, that weaken our sovereignty and appease our enemies.”

https://mattbevin.com/issue/foreign-policy/

If that’s a different position than you’re interested in supporting (i.e., being guided by our constitution and our national interests, not lining the pockets of our foreign enemies), perhaps you’re a member of the wrong Internet forum.

My experience with actual voters - liberals to conservatives - is that competency counts. Essentially, if you can run the organization well, so that it doesn’t annoy the voter - raising taxes, lowering services, etc. - you’ll be elected for life.

If you exude competency your actual views on matters don’t count that much with voters. They want good government in every sense of the word. Conservatives make the mistake of having to declare themselves in an absolute sense. The voter just wants it cheap, good and fast - pick two.

“...The Bug remains silent....”

The Bug hit the Flyswatter known as “Lord Of Zot”.

In some places, it’s also known as “Zotzilla”... although, from the Old High Latin, it’s called “Zottus Swattis Maximus”.

But not for much longer.
It was somewhere after that post that Bug got sprayed.

Yes, they have been.
Especially due to the stupid amnesty crap going the rounds.

The delousing happened somewhere/when between posts 60 and 65.
I’d checked around the time post 58 or so last night and bug was still there.
I didn’t check again until after the post that said “Bug go squish”.

I don’t live in KY either, and I’m not going to donate or do GOTV for either Bevin or McConnell irrespective of which one wins, so we’re even. : )

Yeah, by “support” I meant that I’d encourage my aunt and uncle (who live in Louisville) to vote for Bevin if he won the primary, and I’d refrain from badmouthing him until past the election (just as I did with Johnny Isakson in 2004, Rand Paul in 2010, etc.).

I maintain it’s a “cultural thing.” We’ve been clubbing baby trolls since the dawn of time, and the only culturally sensitive thing to do is to continue the clubbing, with gusto.

We slap the trolls we make their faces sting.
We slap the trolls before their big zotting.
We slap the trolls we make their mommies cry.
We slap the trolls we slap the trolls.

Barry Manilow did serve a purpose.
