The Big Three. I am not sure what the significance of the sign was. Propaganda perhaps?
I wonder if you might publish these photos Yarddog. You seem to have a wealth of them & they are so historical!

Good evening, Connie!
*HUGS*
Reminds me of that idyllic time before 1950 when I lived in my Great-Grandmother's house - I was her hair-haired boy!

I have probably over a thousand but only around 50 or so are mine or taken by my Father. The rest were taken by other members of the 208th and collected by the daughter of one and then distributed to everyone who she could find who was related to members.
I am just a bit uneasy about showing them but since they have been shared to so many I think no one would mind. I do try to give credit when I can.
I would not even think about publishing them tho. Just too many to have to get permission from.
I might add that my Father originally had probably several hundred but over the years most have disappeared. Daddy had 5 children and a dozen grandchildren and a huge number of Great Grandchildren. I am sure someone has them somewhere.

The person who should get the credit for collecting these photos is Ruth Schumi. She is the daughter of Harold Nelson.
She wrote me a couple of times and I made high quality copies of the ones I had plus some documents I still have not shown. She did the best she could to categorize them in various ways such as time or by the person who took them. Or by the location. A very high percentage of the photos are of Berlin as they had much more free time to take pictures after the war ended. She also corrected me on a couple of things I had thought, maybe guessed at.
I thought the 208th was the first American outfit into Berlin but she checked with other living members, my Father had died in the mean time and found out that tho the 208th was there early they were not the first.
I did get one fascinating piece from Daddy when he was in the nursing home. His memory would be bad at times but he would occasionally have lucid moments. I brought in some of his photos including ones of the first Russian Tank to enter Berlin. When daddy looked at it, his mind cleared and he chuckled just a little. He said the Russian memorial was blown up during the night, and he even suggested that it might have been the 208th which destroyed it. Apparently they never did find out for sure.
Out of curiosity I checked to see what Russian tanks are now displayed in Tiergarten Park. Sure enough, that JSII Stalin tank is no longer there. They instead have two T-34s.

The last I heard, the ice damn had broken so they should be able to start clearing the roads soon.

Safely home...I got a new watch...almost exactly like the one I have. Face color is just a tad darker shade. Same brand, same style...I’m a happy camper.

The booms continue. The Army at JBER has been training with BIG guns (howitzers?) and mortars all week, 24/7, preparing to head to Louisiana for more training, and then be deployed.
The news says some folks are complaining....FOOLS!! The sound of freedom!!

“Well hit up gram...he might have a spare! ;-}”
Crazy woman! LOL
I cannot tell you what time it is for CST. The battery in the CST watch died Sunday during the Super Bowl. As far as I am concerned it is 11:30 P.M.! I have been too lazy to go to the jeweler to have the battery replaced.

Good evening, Connie, and thanks for the tributes to our troops. *HUGS*
Did you have a nice commute? Any piggies lately?
Today was jam packed, but went really smoothly. No problems with checks/posting at all...first time in months.

That’s right, he does have more than one at a time.
Even with a new battery mine wouldn’t keep the correct time. After almost missing posting time twice I said I must get a new one. I’m happy that I could get one almost the same.
