Cornyn Challenger Dwayne Stovall Gets a Tea Party Endorsement [U.S. Senate Race-Texas]

WASHINGTON– [Texas] Republican Senate candidate Dwayne Stovall has garnered an endorsement from Grassroots America– We the People, a statewide tea party group based in Tyler.

The endorsement buttresses Stovall’s recent claims that he’s the tea party favorite against Sen. John Cornyn.

“As far as we’re concerned, [Stovall's] the only viable candidate in the race,” said JoAnn Fleming, executive director of Grassroots America. “We didn’t even consider Steve Stockman because of his record of being less than honest with the media about his campaign finances. We also don’t feel he has the temperament.”

The group has expressed a marked lack of enthusiasm for the incumbent, saying Cornyn does not fight for true conservative values

Stovall is a core conservative who will not betray us like Cornyn if elected. Stovall's website: www.texansforstovall.com

Can anybody tell me how Mr. Stovall replied when “We the People” asked him (ahem) if he would respect Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers if he gets elected?

Here is an interview with Stovall. I watched this awhile back and I’m pretty sure he addressed limited powers.

Cornyn and the establishment within the GOP need to go for the good of this nation.

Been saying for a long while that Cornyn needs to go.

No one else is getting the air time needed to combat Cornyn’s ad campaign which I guarantee you is working on the low information voters in Texas.

We’ll be stuck with the bastard for another term.

He is a Constitution preacher if that’s what you seek.

I don’t have a favorite. Stovall or Stockman are both acceptable. Stovall is more conventional, Stockman has made some less than stellar business decisions but has addressed some issues nobody else has had the temerity to bring up.

Cornyn I will vote third party over.

The problem we have is that Stovall Vs Stockman increases Cornyn’s chance of re election by diluting the vote.

The number of challengers isn't a problem when winning the primary requires a majority. Recall that Ted Cruz was one of three challengers to Dewhurst (with Don Leppert and Craig James). Fact is, the more challengers, the merrier.

The problem we have is that neither Stockman nor Stovall is going to force Cornyn into a runoff.

Dwayne Stovall is a lot younger and has more fire-in-the-belly than tired old Rep. Stockman.

I suspect that old Rep. Stockman is just running to dilute the Primary vote in order to give Sen. Cornyn the Primary plurality, IMHO.

Texas primaries require a runoff if there is no majority.

Stockman has more name ID than Stovall, who is as unknown as George P. Bush’s primary opponent, David L. Watts. I will switch to Stovall if that is possible (unlikely), but I will vote for Stockman first. No Cornball ever again

It’s a shame we couldn’t have had a powerhouse candidate against Cornball. People in TX only vote for names they have heard.

Stockman is no spring chicken, but he is four years younger than Cornball.

Good interview. I’d support Mr. Stovall.

However ...

Regardless that Mr. Stovall has read the Constitution and its amendments and basically knows that the corrupt feds have grossly overstepped their constitutionally limited powers, I suspect the following from his interview. I don’t think that he is familiar with the exerpts from Supreme Court case opinions that we see here in FR. These excerpts have helped to expose major corruption in the post-FDR era Supreme Court with respect to the Court’s PC interpretations of the limits of the federal government’s powers.

On the other hand, I think that Mr. Stovall would be very approachable if patriots who are aware of the Supreme Court’s historical clarifications of the fed’s constitutionally limited powers were to get him up to speed on these clarifications.

Yes, it’s really sad how superficially people make their voting decisions. I’ll gladly take Stovall or Stockman over Cornyn.
