The Silicon Valley touts itself as a meritocracy where people climb the economic ladder based on the power of their ideas. But many people of color can't even find that ladder, let alone climb it.
They're not part of the valley's white-male-dominated "bro culture," advocates say, and aren't connected to the social and educational networks where companies recruit talent.

But white males are a minority in California.
The best part of this mindset is that those supposed “bros” in silicon valley are as liberal as the day is long...
The Democrats will tolerate white males until they don’’t need their votes anymore— a day that is quickly approaching.
Aside from all the moral and ethical reasons for diversifying their workforce, "there are competitive reasons, too," Sanchez said. "Some of the most disruptive technologies are created by people who are living on the margins."
Those startups include companies like Regalii, co-founded by a Dominican Republican native now living in the U.S., which tries to make it easier for immigrants to send money back to relatives in their home countries - an industry long dominated by companies like Western Union.
Wow ... there's your "killer app" for sure.
Maybe it has nothing to do with "racism" or "bro culture" (huh???) and everything to do with competence ... or lack thereof.
Fifty percent of the population is below average.
But first you have to graduate from high school....bummer.
Nonsense. I don’t care what culture you come from, if you make a name for yourself by writing innovative computer code (something anyone can do in their basement) Silicon Valley has a place for you.
The ABA touts itself as a meritocracy where people climb the economic ladder based on the power of their talent. But many white boys can’t even find that ladder, let alone climb it. They’re not part of the ABA’s drug and crime “bro culture,” advocates say, and aren’t connected to the drugs and pimps where the ABA recruits criminals - er - talent.
Now, with those small changes, howz your sleazy little article look, Pelosi Chronicle?
The fact is that a talented programmer that lived in a slime jar from Mars would be hired by Apple or Google immediately.
And I can think of no faster way to ruin these companies than to let undereducated MSM and political critters try and tell them who to hire.
First, pull your pants up and discard the white tee shirt...
Well, gee, maybe they need to pull their pants up over their underwear and stop looking at getting a real education as going white. Ya think?
I worked in SV for 15 years and was NEVER part of a majority.
When I first moved there, the funniest thing I ever saw was at a donut shop watching an Indian and Taiwan man arguing about the price of donuts.
I knew I had landed on a different planet.
That might have a little bit to do with it.
In a meritocracy people with low intelligence, poor aptitude, and bad attitudes won't make it. Some groups of people have those attributes in abundance. See my tag line.
Interesting stats. But the question for liberals would be, is it racist that blacks get so few degrees in these fields???
The same lament comes up about women being under-represented in certain fields. The hard sciences, executives of Fortune 500 companies, partners in law firms — these are a few areas in which feminist types complain that women do not attain high positions. And there too the question would be, is it due to illegal discrimination that certain types of people get shut out of certain positions?
How ‘privileged” of you.
Some people don’t have basements!
The demographics are in place, so that in about 20 years, whites will be a minority in America.
White men specifically are already a minority in many places, as noted here.
Is it really racist that there are some fields in which white men are found in bigger proportions?
Is is racist that most of the NBA players are black?
Is it sexist that most nurses are women?
Liberals tend to look at these situations and find discrimination. My thought is that after decades of affirmative action programs, and non-discrimination laws, is discrimination really still happening?
I worked in the Valley for 24 years. When we left in 2000 my son was in 1st grade. There were 17 kids in his class, only two were white.
White males couldn’t get anywhere in the Detroit civil service.
When is that crime against humanity going to be righted through reparations?
Yo. Math be “acting white. “
My attention to detail, competence, and strong work ethic keeps me employed here(so far), not my skin color, cronyism or nepotism . . . Speaking well also helps . .
Then again,, maybe I am that ‘token white person’ in the group here ?
Yes. Yes also to Zathras’ 10.
These companies are full of “minorities” at all levels.
These articles are written for an audience who do not know the reality or demographics.
The author is well aware he, at best, being intellectually dishonest.
