Sandra Fluke Agrees: Limbaugh Did Her a ‘Favor’ by Giving Her Exposure
Mediaite ^ | 02/07/2014 | by Matt Wilstein

Sandra Fluke first gained national attention when Rush Limbaugh called her a “slut” on his radio show. During an appearance on MSNBC’s The Ed Show Thursday to discuss her bid for the California State Senate, Fluke agreed with Ed Schultz that Limbaugh may have actually done her a “favor” by bringing her that extra exposure.

As a Georgetown University law student in 2012, Fluke was initially barred from testifying on contraception to an all-male Congressional panel by its Republican members before ultimately testifying to Democrats on the issue. She argued her school should have to include contraception in its health care coverage despite any moral objections it may have.

Following Fluke’s testimony, Limbaugh called her a “slut” and a “prostitute” on his radio show, adding, “If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. We want you to post the videos online so we can all watch.” He later apologized to Fluke for his “insulting word choices.”

“I think Limbaugh did you a favor by putting you out there like that and I hope you understand where I’m going on that,” Schultz told Fluke today. “I mean exposure is very important, people now look to you in a big, big way for leadership on some very pertinent issues.”

“I agree with you that exposure is important,” Fluke said in response, “because it lets us shine a light on important issues we need to be talking about.”

On the issue of a congressional run, which had previously discussed, versus the State Senate campaign she settled on, Fluke said she just wanted to go where she think can affect the most “progressive change.”

Thank you, I sincerely appreciate that.

I believe facts are one of the most important weapons in the arsenal of conservatives and I try my best to use them on FR, and to read the linked article before I post.

However, I believe that frequently causes me to become pedantic and seemingly 'obsessed' with certain topics where emotions and not facts rule.

I err, so I encourage others to point out when I am wrong and to provide a source. I appreciate it when somebody shows me where I'm wrong; I learn from that. I also tend to do further research on an issue after I post, which is why I'll frequently re-post on a thread with an "I was wrong" post.

I respect and appreciate your posts, even when you're just being a wise guy. I try to bring a little levity to FR when I can.

My best FReegards.

To anyone who reads that last post, I’d sincerely appreciate advice, in public or by private FReemail, on how I can become a better citizen of Free Republic. All criticism and advice is welcome. Don’t hold back.

When terms like "prostitute" and "slut" are used to demean the opposition when disputing the bad policies/principles they espouse, even if those terms apply to the individuals by definition, it strengthens the opposition. THAT is what I am saying, and THAT is what has happened. There are better ways to challenge the opposition's arguments.

I heard the broadcast in question to the point that Rush used the words "prostitute" and "slut," recognized that Rush was digging a hole for himself, and sadly, tiredly, switched stations.

He should have known better. He certainly should have known that the words he chose would backfire and launch Fluke to "hero" status among the left. Using that kind of personal attack language in a public declaration is guaranteed to backfire. It's why DECENT parents would dress down any kid who pointed at a prostitute in public and yelled, "Prostitute! Slut!" Rush is exactly like the rest of us: when he breaks the rules of good breeding and Christian compassion, he pays a consequence. You can admire him for it if you want -- I'll pass.

Compassion -- sympathy for the suffering of others -- is a STRENGTH. That Fluke and all the rest of those promiscuous women live the way they do, is a sad, awful, terrible thing, and I pity them for it, I pray for them. Any Christian should. Compassion is a STRENGTH.

Weakness happens when compassion is overridden by anger and self-righteousness.

Compassion is a STRENGTH. A compassionate person no more calls a misguided promiscuous woman a "slut" or a "prostitute" than a compassionate doctor or relative would call an obese person a "fat hedonist."

Indeed so.

But what difference does it make? Really?

The country is doomed. Our legislators are just too incompetent for this country to survive. It does not matter at this point if California elects her.

Republican... Democrat...

None of them read or analyze legislation any more.

Pennsylvania passed the ‘Uniform Child Abduction Prevention Act’ this month.

By unanimous vote.

And what is it you want to talk about?

Something completely and totally irrelevant.

Get a lifel

Turn out the lights. This country is done. The legislators are just too incompetent. Republican. Democrat. Doesn’t matter.

Pennsylvania just passed, by unanimous vote, the Uniform Child Abduction Prevention Act (UCAPA).

Sponsored by the clueless Jake Corman (R).

It made her a martyr to a lot of people so why shouldn’t she thank him?

Now I see what type of comments you find completely and totally relevant "when our country is doomed": Flat Sales of Wii U Put Nintendo in the Hot Seat

"Wii was awesome. That was why it kicked the other two consoles buts for what 3 years after it first came out."

" We were using my daughters Playstation 3 for Netflix (due to the lack of good games for it), but now that she has gone to college, the Wii is filling the gap."

I'll try to model my comments after yours. /s

It is very clear that you still don’t have a clue.

Nobody here cares as about your candidate for office.

Go promote her on MSNBC.

It's clear from my comments that I would never vote for Fluke.

Let's bury this and go back to promoting the conservative movement.
