GOP challenger rips ‘crony’ Cantor on immigration

Dave Brat is challenging Rep. Eric Cantor in a Republican primary — and giving the House majority leader a verbal thrashing on immigration.

“Cantor is following the agenda of the Business Roundtable and the Chamber of Commerce — pursuing policies that are good for big business, but come at the exclusion of the American people,” said Brat, an economics professor at Randolph-Macon College.

Brat’s upstart bid against the second highest-ranking House Republican may seem quixotic. But it’s part of a growing national movement to oust GOP leaders who fail conservative litmus tests.

If Republicans would work as hard at beating Democrats as they do at beating Republicans, we might have a chance next November.

While you make a legitimate point, Cantor's towing the line for the profit before America crowd, cannot simply be overlooked.

For a closer look at why Corporate Executives embrace ultimately destructive ideas on immigration, see Corporate Managers & "Immigration Reform."

I do not mean to disparage Cantor, in general. But no issue is ultimately more important than our immigration policy, which will determine our future political course.

“If Republicans would work as hard at beating Democrats as they do at beating Republicans, we might have a chance next November.”

I hope you say the same to Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Dede Scozzafava, etc., who go after conservatives a hell of a lot harder than they go after democrats.

For conservatives, a moderate republican is the lesser of two evils, because a democrat is worse.

For moderate republicans, a democrat is the lesser of two evils, because a conservative is worse.

So some of us are working very hard to remove as many moderate republicans as possible, because they are democrat handmaidens, soul-sisters.

The treachery is there for all to see, John Warner refusing to endorse Oliver North, Jim Jeffords leaving the republican party, handing the senate to the democrats, Arlen Specter becoming a democrat, Charlie Crist becoming a democrat, Lincoln Chafee becoming a democrat, John Huntsman leaving the republican party, Lisa Murkowski refusing to endorse the winner of the republican primary, launching an independent bid to keep her seat, and John Cornyn and Mitch McConnell helping her, Dede Scozzafava endorsing the democrat for congress when it was clear that she would not win and the conservative might, John Warner endorsing Mark Warner, the democrat instead of Ed Gillespie, the republican in Virginia, Richard Lugar endorsing Michelle Nunn in Georgia, and on and on.

You’re damn right we go after these people, to remove them from office and put others in their place.

Litmus test?

If you want to call it that, okay.

Alternatively, one might call it an "amnesty RINO" (or "undocumented Democrat") test.

That said, amnesty RINOs need to face well-funded, well-managed primary challenges from highly qualified, well-spoken, photogenic and squeaky-clean (preferably military veteran) conservatives.

“A change in immigration policy means amnesty.”

Agreed.
And the code word for amnesty for illegals is....comprehensive. -tom

“I do not mean to disparage Cantor, in general.”

No worries. I’ll be happy to take it from there.

The Weasel is a corporatist whore. He is the epitome of backstabbing, uniparty scum. If he spent one half the effort fighting our opposition as he does fighting conservatives, he would actually be an outstanding representative.

As compared to judas iscariot, we can say that at least judas had the integrity to demand 30 pieces of silver for his betrayal. The Weasel betrays conservatives for kicks.

.......your point is well taken BUT...............the term RINO means something! It means to some of us that we could grind nails with our teeth every time we see a “Republican” doing something to aid and abet democrats advance democratic policies.

And, about the time we start grinding those nails some well meaning pubbie comes along and says well, “you shoulda voted for Lisa, or Mitch or John C..........................Really? Why? What’s the difference”
