VANITY: Information about all the candidates running against John Cornyn - feedback wanted.
Myself ^ | 2/8/2014 | Me

Posted on 02/08/2014 9:16:35 AM PST by QuisCustodiet1776

I would like to start a discussion about the various candidates running against Cornyn in the Texas US senate race. Cornyn is a RINO and is running the most disgusting negative campaign against Stockman I have ever seen. It is frightening in its machine like focus.

My lovely wife compiled a list of candidates and I thought I would post the information here in case anyone is looking for alternatives or has any comments.

All of these guys appear to be small government conservatives and most (all?) are social conservatives.

Reid Reasor
Retired Lt Col
Highly articulate and very conservative
I like this guy a lot at this point
http://www.reasorforussenate.com/

Dwane Stovall
Business owner
Very conservative
http://www.texansforstovall.com/issues.php

Curt Cleaver
Business Manager
Appears to be very conservative and is outspoken about his Christian faith.
http://curtcleaver.com/theissues/

Ken Cope
Retired Lt Col
Softer on immigration than I like but otherwise seems good
http://www.copetexas.com/solutions/issues-solutions

Steve Stockman
Congressman
Not afraid to be confrontational
Has some baggage? I would love some feedback here
Web site needs help
http://stockman2014.com/

Chris Mapp
Business Owner
Sounds good but would like to see a specific statement for each major issue on his site

I have been wondering if Cruz has weighed in? I doubt he can/will but it would be interesting to see who the groups that supported Cruz are backing? might be a way to figure out who would have Cruz’s back in DC, without him having to say it?

It doesn't really matter in the first round of voting. The goal is to keep Cornyn under 50%+1. If he goes to a run-off, he'll lose.

Did you leave out Linda Vega on purpose?

Cruz has indicated he won’t endorse during the primary....

What Johnny said.

I could be happy with any of them vis a vis Cornyn.

Getting Cornyn into a runoff will have major “make the GOP-e pee their pants” spinoff benefits too.

We’re not hearing much about polling: if things looked good for Cornyn, we’d be smothered with those polls to depress morale and contributions.

I haven’t seen a Stockman ad yet but I hear they’re well-done.

An opportunity that will be missed(again).

Ted Cruz is VERY fresh on their minds. You can be sure Cornyn and his bundlers and sycophants (and chambers of commerce all across Texas) are losing some sleep over this very real challenge to the status quo.

I agree about keeping Corny under 50%. But in a run off he will face the next highest candidate correct? I think there might be better choices here than Stockman.

Linda Vega
Attorney
Looks good but slightly soft on illegal immigration
Being female and Hispanic are big plusses as far as electability goes.

You Betcha.

10 days to early voting, 24 to election day.

Cruz is all over TX grass-rooting... there WILL be turnout.

Although Stovall was a speaker in Denton at a Cruz rally. Either is fine with me. Just waiting for the whistle.

The most positive thing that can be said about anyone of them is “They’re not John Cornyn.” The second most positive thing about them is as of yet they’ve not licked obama’s boots.

If you want a list of all the declared candidates for the Texas Senate seat, check out:

http://ballotpedia.org/United_States_Senate_elections_in_Texas,_2014

It looks like Ballotpedia has a lot of additional information about each candidate. I don’t know if Ballotpedia has any political bias, but I figure it’s a starting point for your own research.

BTW - I am not Mr. Reasnor. I just used his URL when I posted this vanity as the submission form required a valid URL in that field. Should have used something else.

Take a look at their websites. I don’t think most of these folks are likely to flip on us (although that is never guaranteed).

I would love to see one of these candidates working with Cruz. I think Stockman might be a weak choice as he has too much baggage - perceived or otherwise.

Has anyone seen these candidates live and can comment on their ability to speak?

Another endorsement. Couldn't find any pics of Stovall with Cruz, maybe someone can.
