House passes debt-ceiling increase with no add-ons
CNBC ^

Posted on 02/11/2014 2:35:53 PM PST by Red in Blue PA

This is a developing news story. An earlier version of the article follows:

House GOP leaders announced Tuesday they will advance this week an increase in the government's borrowing cap that's free of any add-ons. A vote is scheduled for Tuesday night because of the threat of a winter storm.

House Speaker John Boehner announced the plan after a poll of the Republican rank and file failed to show enough support for a plan to tie the hike in the debt limit to a plan to reverse a recently passed cut to military pensions.

The Ohio Republican said he expected virtually all of President Barack Obama's Democratic allies to vote for the so-called clean debt cap increase but that he would be one of the few Republicans to back it in the vote.

Clearly, as the paltry vote proved, the majority of Republican House members were willing to stand their ground, and as one ranking member said; “We were prepared to go bold.”

I saw that also. House Conservatives were ready to fight for those being hurt by Democratcare but wanted no part of Boehner’s kabuki bill.

Jim Jordan for Speaker!

That and his attempted railroading of George Zimmerman. I know that I won’t be voting for him for that reason. I know that the teachers won’t be voting for him in spite of his attempt at kissing their asses.

LOL. No /s tag needed.

These Gop-e's are going to be the death of us.

Boehner caved. Again. And he's dying to get past Election 2014 to CAVE again to the Marxist and the demonic-rats for AMNESTY!

You should probably look for that number to increase exponentially.

Incidentally, you still haven’t provided a single positive reason that I or anyone else should vote GOP.

What are the selling points of the GOP to any potential voter?

If you cannot answer that question, do you realize what that means for your party and what it says for their future?

Thanks for the list.

Many of them, of course, are in the leadership and many are also those we see on the tube shucking and grinning and reassuring their media friends how much like Democrats they really are.

Disgusting.

BTW, SoFloFreeper, my understanding is that the Republicans who resisted attaching the pension reinstatement did so because they didn’t like being extorted to vote FOR the debt-ceiling increase in order to do right by our veterans.

This was Boehner’s brainstorm: support me and the Democrats and we’ll let you give the vets their pension back...

The conservatives rightly told him to bleep off and supposedly are going to pass a pension fix separately.

I do not know who is worse for the cause of liberty, the MarxoFascists or you beltway party hacks who justify complicity to establish tyranny as some kind of moral position.

Fortunately, I am not fighting nor planning to fight the battles.

Neither is Boehner, McConnell, Cantor -et al. They already surrendered. And here you are justifying surrender and complicity with tyranny.

In a Republic, political fighting is delegated to those elected to do battle.

In a tyranny, political fighting is decreed to be obstructionist and/or extremist by both the dictator AND the leaders of the pretend opposition party, and therefore a Republic ceases to exist and is transformed into a dictatorial oligarchy.

There appears to be strong sentiment among some of the troops to attack for the purpose of doing something even if it was wrong. Wrong in the sense that it accomplished pretty much nothing except harm the assaulting force.

It will never dawn on you beltway party hacks that standing up for what is right is never wrong. Defending the Constitution and the rule of law is a DUTY to real Americans, not some game to be played where our liberties and rights and the rule of law can be traded in moves and negotiated for better positions to control the money.

We don’t know our General’s plans nor their officers plans at the tactical level.

Yes we do. We know exactly what their plan has been; compromise and capitulation to the enemy. We see the fruits of these French Generals in the GOP: surrender; implement the Fascist agenda; see-no-evil-speak-no-evil-of-Obama's lawbreaking etc.

Their assault is not against the impenetrable budget/debt ceiling fortress but against Obamacare, the oppositions pitifully weak rear flank. This assault will be decided in the court.

Two words: John Roberts. Nearly every court attempt to thwart this "law" has been rejected.

Power or will?……. The apparent answer is that will is a function of power. In the short term, if power is deficient, will can not prevail.

Like I said, you people are Surrender Monkeys. You just admitted there's no tactical reason to draw a line to defend the Republic or the Constitution while it is being transformed into a tyranny. ObamaCare could have been defunded, but the leadership of the GOP refused out of fear.

Remember bert’s rule…… History is a process, not an event.

Your stupid so-called rule not only IGNORES history, but sounds just like the Leftist mantras about everything being 'a process'.

Comforting thought to cancer patients/IRS…….

Real people are DYING and being financially destroyed while you tell us to sit back and be patient while you party hacks take part in the coup that took place.

The Republican congress is powerless to make it better immediately.

So surrender completely and go along with the Dictator's agenda, but make sure you train the party's guns on Conservatives and join the Democrats and Obama in declaring them extremists.

The IRS is being hurt in the Congressional hearings.

Now you are just being DELUSIONAL. The IRS is laughing at them while being given massive powers beyond their expectations with armament to boot.

The process is slow but successful. The results, damaging results, will be brought forth in good time to have an effect on the elections.

Another way of saying that we might as well lay back and enjoy it while we wait for 'rescue'. This coup will have been finalized long before the rape is even completed.

The war must be fought with the forces and equipment available.

And when you limp-wrists decide we cannot win, you advocate we just throw up the hands in surrender and help the regime implement their coup and pray and hope the next election puts more Republicans in office.

An analysis of the projected future seems to indicate that at the federal level there might be fresh troops, conservative troops, to engage the battle after November.

Whose analysis? You are clueless as to the ground we are now standing on. You surrendered the Republic to a MarxoFascist coup and now you tell us that 'elections' will provide us fresh troops?

National elections will be as they were in the Soviet Union. When massive fraud in 2012 was evidenced, you beltway party hacks refused to fight that battle also and told us it was a non-starter to even investigate it.

best to keep the focus on Obamacare ……

You make me laugh. There IS NO FOCUS ON OBAMACARE by the GOP leadership. None. Boehner told us all, ObamaCare is the law of the land and to 'get over it'. Obama unilaterally changes the law - and silence by the same.

By postponing everything, rationalizing abandoning the law as enforcing that which is allowed within the law, Obama has capitulated. He has by his actions, retreated to what he considers a position of defensive safety while he is unable to effectively repel the attacks coming from all sides.

Biggest bunch of moronic gobbledygook I've ever read on this board. That inanity is in the same league with the Regime's assertion that losing your job because of Obamacare frees you from 'job lock'. War is peace. Surrender is victory.

our primary weapon is our vote.

Votes don't matter after a coup has transformed a nation into a tyranny. Elections are just political theater that are orchestrated to create an illusion of choice for the masses that are ruled.

Those that chose to desert the battle and personal responsibility, and not vote are cowards lacking the guts to make a strong decision.

Those that chose not to defend the Constitution and stand against overt lawbreaking by the executive for political expediency are the cowards.

Those that justify that cowardice are traitors.

Yup. And same story with Boehner.

None of us could possibly have predicted in advance that as Speaker, crybaby Boehner would be a surrender monkey RINO.

No /sarc tag necessary.

That rat bastard Boehner is not just caving, he’s actually PUSHING amnesty. He and brother Paul Ryan are turncoats in that regard. They’ll join rat bastards McCain, McGrahamesty, McRubio, et al, in pushing the GOP-killing, America-killing rat bastard democrat amnesty plan.

Right on and that alone proved to me that Boehner is the TRAITOR!

Why have a Republican MAJORITY if they're going to pass AMNESTY, BECAUSE AFTER AMNESTY, a Republican MAJORITY will be a thing of the PAST!

Yet sir we are being told that we should be patient because we should not fight a battle we cannot win.

This is all just a big political chess game and we need to accept the moves because we little people do not know how to play the game and are too eager to fight a battle they cannot win.

Even when the so-called GOP Generals are pushing Amnesty and declaring war on the Conservative TEA Party.

There has been no surrender.

You repeatedly illustrate the point that suicide by bravado is actually loss.

Armies have officers to lead and sometimes restrain troops anxious to go get killed

I don’t tell people not to vote, but if you vote for a rat bastard, don’t be surprised if you get a rat bastard. And rat bastards beget rat bastards. Romney is a rat bastard. Boehner is a rat bastard. McStain, McGragamnesty, McRyan, McRubio, and even Rand McPaul (on amneaty) are rat bastards. Rat bastards reproduce and multiply like, well, uh, rats.
