In a personal note, NBC News Special Correspondent Tom Brokaw revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer and said he and his physicians are very encouraged with the progress he is making.
Brokaw, who has worked at NBC News since 1966, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer affecting blood cells in the bone marrow, in August at the Mayo Clinic. His doctors are optimistic about the outcome of the treatment he is receiving, and Brokaw said he remains the luckiest guy I know.

That’s better than getting God rolling over you and going to the hell you currently seem to be wanting.
Too bad he doesn’t have Obamacare
And you are answered, “everybody,” and you call that nancy.
Well, maybe instead of when God rescued you, maybe He should have been non-nancy and let you die so macho in that accident.
You have some attitude adjustments coming, courtesy of a nancy heaven....
“I just ask a question, and I’m getting holy-rollers calling me an a-hole.”
I think they are probably personally involved with the disease.
I know what that’s like.
Still,I think you are probably like me on this - while I don’t wish cancer on anyone, even my worst enemy, If cancer has to afflict somebody, better it be him than someone that matters.
How do we know Brokaw will not matter.
It would be like saying Paul will not matter when he was Saul.
God says: Try guessing again. I know the end from the beginning and you don’t, buster.
“How do we know Brokaw will not matter.”
I know he doesn’t matter. Hell is full of liars, what’s one more?
My mother was diagnosed with MM in 1979, a week before I left home for college. They told her to expect 2-3 years. She survived 4.5 years.. until, just after I had finished college. Which, was a promise Jesus made to her two days after my birth... but, that's another story.
My first cousin was diagnosed in 1986. He only survived one year.
A great friend of my just passed from MM last year, after 15 years of treatment. So, it's definitely getting better.
Funny thing... just a week or so ago, my wife and I were driving and heard Brokaw on the radio. His voice sounded weak, and lispy. I told her, "Wow... Tom doesn't SOUND good... I wonder how he looks?".
Then, days later... I heard the bad news.
Nobody is in hell until he or she dies.
I greatly fear your hell is but a death away, currently.
really don’t care
Said, caring enough to answer.
I think you do care, to tell us of how wonderful your attitude is. Supposedly.
Yup, Thalidomide has been an effective drug product for over 50 years. We’re still finding new uses for it. Good stuff.
“I greatly fear your hell is but a death away, currently.”
If that’s true I’ll give Brokaw your regards.
Thank you.
I have multiple myeloma. Some of the posts suck and are offensive to me. Get a life.
encouraging for him, or us?
So sorry ro hear wha you are going through - the ‘not knowing whenit’s going to reappear...” - almost as hard as the rest.
Prayers that things will soon turn around for you -
“I have multiple myeloma.”
Sorry to hear that. Feel free to be offended if it makes you feel better. If I could pick an anti-American member of the press to suffer rather than you, I would.
My first impression from the headline is that he must be terminal. The greatest literary hypocrisy ever perpetrated was when a man spits on every value that made America great, then profits by exploiting “The Greatest Generation”. The man is without virtue, conscience or any redeeming human trait.
