Joblessness and Obamacare set the stage for GOP election wins
Suddenly, with two roll-call votes, the messy, multi-issue battles of the 2014 elections have been refocused on two central issues that will put the GOP back in charge of Congress.
The budget and debt-limit fights have been set aside for the time being, with the swift votes this week for a debt-limit extension and the earlier passage of a budget to keep the government running for the rest of this year. This means that the midterm election battles for the rest of this year will be turned into a clear referendum on the voters’ two foremost concerns: a weak, jobless economy and the increasingly unpopular, dictatorial Obamacare law.
Democrats, who rarely if ever talk about either of these issues, were hoping and praying that this year’s elections would remain muddy enough for them to save a number of their House and Senate seats from GOP takeovers.
However, House Republicans couldn’t agree on any subset of demands they hoped to extract from Senate Democrats in the debt-limit bill, forcing House Speaker John A. Boehner to offer a “clean” bill and end the issue for the year. It quickly passed the Senate.
Now the focus returns full-bore to two major issues on which President Obama and the Democats are weakest among the general electorate. The early signs suggest they will get creamed on both in the fall, as the economy plunges into another slump, and Obamacare lurches from one debacle after another.
If anyone thinks for a moment that the White House is not worried about the political fallout of all of this, consider what the president did Tuesday. He abruptly handed midsized-business employers a politically driven reprieve from his health care law.

If they want a good night they need to impeach the dictator.
Impeach, then when the senate refuses to convict, the conservative base will come out in droves.
Yeah, like the Butt Boys of the GOPe who gave us McCain and Romney are going to play hardball. Note we are talking about the people who in the last couple of months have declared open war on the base of the party.
IMO, as bad as it ought to be for the Rats, it's still their election to lose because the Republican Party is so stoopid.
PS: The Times isn't factoring in massive Dem voter fraud. Fraud which gets worse every election.

I don’t think they’ll even get that. Using VA as a bellwether, which it tends to be whether I like it or not, the ‘rat faction did really well. Even with the deathcare fiasco, the gop faction of the uniparty isn’t getting any traction.
Conservatives aren’t showing up to vote. While I showed up last November, I see little reason to do so this year.
Do you really think the democraps are really gonna let loose of their death grip on power. Besides with elected officials like graham,macain,bonher & all the rest of the democrap lite crowd they are 2 sides of the same crooked coin.
SO damn what? We will get the same business from the Republicans, NDAA reinforcement, Patriot Act strengthening, Amnesty. So it will be our guys doing it to us instead of their guys and so damn what? The new guys taking over will NEVER give up power acquired by the other guys. They will “use it better” but they will use it and it won’t be “better” and they will leave it and more power to the other guys when they get their turn again. Except that we are at a point where whoever is in power doesn’t really have to submit to actual more-or-less fair elections any more. Somebody is going to take advantage of that reality.
What are the Republicans giving us to vote for?

If there is significant voter fraud in 2014, it will be completely unnecessary.
The Democrats have sufficient eligible voters in place to guarantee victory in the White House and Senate.
Taking back the House may take them longer, but will happen by 2018 at the latest.
All they need to do is get their base registered to vote in key states and Districts.
Then, they just herd them onto buses and herd them off at early voting precincts.
The GOP leadership will assist Democrats by attacking and demoralizing as many Conservatives as possible before November.
It would be disatrous for him to lose the Senate. Dems are going ballistic that Voters intend to ditch them---they'll be forced into luxurious civilian life as mega-pensioneers.

Senate Democrats facing tough elections this year want the IRS to play a more aggressive role in regulating outside groups expected to spend millions of dollars on their races. In the wake of the IRS targeting scandal, the Democrats are publicly prodding the agency instead of lobbying them directly.
Dems are also careful to say the IRS should treat conservative and liberal groups equally, but they’re concerned about an impending tidal wave of attack ads funded by GOP-allied organizations. Much of the funding for those groups is secret, in contrast to the donations lawmakers collect, which must be reported publicly.
One of the most powerful groups is Americans for Prosperity, funded by the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch. It has already spent close to $30 million on ads attacking Democrats this election cycle.
“If they’re claiming the tax relief, the tax benefit to be a nonprofit for social relief or social justice, then that’s what they should be doing,” said Sen. Mark Begich (D), who faces a competitive race in Alaska. “If it’s to give them cover so they can do political activity, that’s abusing the tax code. And either side."
Asked if the IRS should play a more active role policing political advocacy by groups that claim to be focused on social welfare, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) responded, “Absolutely. Both on the left and the right,” she said. “As taxpayers, we should not be providing a write-off to groups to do political activity, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
She called the glut of political spending by self-described social welfare groups that qualify under section 501(c)(4) of the tax code “outrageous.” Shaheen is in a good position now but could find herself embroiled in a tight campaign if former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass) challenges her. Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.), the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent, said the IRS has jurisdiction over 501(c)(4) groups, as well as charities, which fall under section 5/01(c)(3) of the tax code and sometimes engage in quasi-political activity.
“That whole 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) [issue], those are IRS numbers. It is inherently an internal revenue matter,” he said. “There are two things you don’t want in political money, in the fundraising world and expenditure world. You don’t want secret money, and you don’t want unlimited money, and that’s what we have now.” --SNIP--
The “Stage” may be set but the Repubs and rhino’s need to get their act together if the even THINK they have a chance to de-throne the demodummies. If they fail to succeed, there WILL be another political party that will replace them. I see it on the horizon.
We should not dismiss evil, conniving Democrats. Look at 'em....Dems are salivating---relishing the idea of Repubs impeaching Obama---b/c the connivers can turn im/p/ment into "victimhood"....always a sure vote-getter.

BACKSTORY Back when Clinton was getting lewinskied in the Oval Office, Reps howled in disgust and went for impeachment......
Hillary took refuge on broadcast TV, doing her "Virgin Mary" act (decked out w/ ropes of virginal pearls) telling Matt Lauer that a "vast-right wing conspiracy" was vilifying her husband.
Voters responded----they saw Republican actions as "overreaching." The Clintons looked like "victims" and Republicans lost seats at midterms.
Lesson learned.
The GOPe needs to go sit in the back of the bus, or if they are unhappy doing that, just go under the bus.
