Texas – Sen. Cornyn in Danger Zone Against GOP Primary Opponent
jpupdates.com ^ | 2/16/14 | Sol Rieger

In the latest poll out of Texas by Human Events-Gravis Marketing, there’s some trouble for current Senator John Cornyn who is running for re-election.

When asked “if the election were held today, would you vote for Republican Steve Stockman or Republican John Cornyn?” Cornyn holds a 15-point lead, 43% to 28% Stockman, while 29% of the voters are still undecided.

Douglas Kaplan of Gravis Marketing said, “Congressman Stockman is much closer than expected. Cornyn is under 50% with a significant amount still undecided, which is dangerous territory for an incumbent. The poll was conducted before Cornyn’s recent cloture vote on raising the debt limit, which could hurt him among conservative primary voters.”

When asked if they approve of Rep. Stockman, 55% said they’re unsure while 28% approved and 18% disapproved. When asked the same about Sen. John Cornyn 49% said they approve, 26% disapprove and 24% were unsure.

The poll was conducted between 2/10/14 and 2/12/14, 729 likely Republican voters articulated in the phone survey. The poll has margin of error 3.6%

Even with this positive news, the poster that is always negative on the Cornyn threads will be here to try to kill momentum. I'm getting tired of the pro-establishment trolls.

I'll be glad when Cornyn gets retired.

Poll Details

Not sure of what the impact would be but this poll is only asking about Cornyn and Stockman.
Nothing is asked about the other six candidates and they will get some votes.

I think the poll was also taken before the cloture vote. Cornyn is getting hammered for the cloture vote, and I'm sure that isn't going to help him in the polls.

Poll was taken before Cornyn’s most recent cloture vote. The poll supports strong ABC support so chance for runoff is looking better.

Not only that, but early voting starts tomorrow. Cornyn’s cloture vote is
still on the minds of angry conservatives.
Keep him under 50% and Cornyn could be a goner in the run-off.

He’s dead in the water. If there is a runoff, all the ABC voters will vote for any opponent. It’s over for him.

Ahhh. 43% and surely going down since the poll was taken. Cornyn’s got to be sweating. And him sweating has got to be making other prominent RINOs sweat, as well.

The poll should have included Stovall, who presumably would have been in third place. Then we could analyze the strength of Stockman and Stovall.

This 43 percent is diehard establishment backing and includes Rick Perry and presumably his former rival, Kay Bailey Hutchison. Did Cornball back Perry or Hutchison in 2010? I can’t remember.

I was wondering if something like this was about to come out as the Hill had an article saying it was all over and he had no traction. You can always tell you are doing well when the usual suspects try and claim its all over.

Dewhurst is not in the race. But I am guessing you are comparing some
other candidate to Dewhurst.

Conservative commentator Hugh Hewitt said on his radio program the other day that all of the Senators and Congressmen under attack by the Tea Party—Cornyn, Graham, McConnell, Boehner, etc.—will survive the primaries.

You must be talking about Theodore. I expose him as a RINO-loving troll every chance I get.

To: tennmountainman; All

In the last GOP midterm Primary in 2010, only 16.4 percent of registered voters in Texas voted. Texas is 48th in the nation in voter turn out. That is good news for our team. Conservatives who want Cornyn defeated will turn out; the uninformed, name-ID voters won’t. Now, let me say this.....

All anti-Cornyn voters need to vote early because I’m praying for high winds and thunder storms in Texas on March 4th. The anti-Cornyn voters will swim to the polls; sissy RINO supporters won’t. EARLY VOTING STARTS TOMORROW IN TEXAS; FEBRUARY 18TH.
