No, wasn't being sarcastic. I don't claim to be an expert on the area by any means. However, I know a few Ukrainian immigrants here in the US. My boss grew up there and left his family behind to come to the US and work. He has a deep and unwavering hatred for muslims; the mere mention of them sets his blood boiling and he often goes into tyrannical cursing. He's told me countless stories about how they have infiltrated society, politics and military. Most of his experiences stem from his military service over there and how the predominant muslims abused everyone else. He's a mean SOB too... as much as I like him, I would not want to cross him. Those people are tenacious, loyal and downright mean when provoked, judging by his character. I believe he'd ride a rocket straight to hell if that's what he had to do for his country or culture... and I'm telling you, I've never met anyone who hated muslims more than he does. He also goes home twice a year to visit and somehow manages to smuggle some of the best Cognac you ever tasted (Ukrainians seem to obey only the laws they want to obey).

Everything I know about Ukrainian culture and society is based on 4 people that I know so I'm not sure how accurate that is overall since they are all from the same area (not Kiev, I can't remember the name of the town now)

We see this in Police Depts' emphasis on "officer safety", and training their people to shoot at the first hint of threat.

If cops are more and more recruited from people who just want to draw a paycheck, who have no personal honor, who are bullies who just want the thrill of exercising power --- these forces become very brittle. They are more likely to cut and run if they are exposed to actual danger.

I’m almost through this long video history of Ukraine (4 hours). Well done. Ukraine has been torn between east and west since the Mongols ruled it.

And they seem to have been quick to change alliances. IIRC, portions of Ukraine had been taken over by Poland, and when the Bolsheviks came (1920??) they welcomed them to fight Poland. And then later they welcomed the Nazi’s to push out the Soviets, etc. Until the Nazi’s started killing all the Jews, etc.

It would be nice if this revolution leads to real self-determination and they might enjoy a lasting peace. But the country is so split, perhaps the only way would be to split it into two parts. But that would probably lead to civil war.

The protesters seem to be from all age groups. Many elderly people (well - elderly for protesting- look like 50 years and up). It almost looks like half of them are 30 to 50 years old. And the other 40% are under 30 years old. But it is not just the youth by any means.

The kind of things that women can do are collect photographs of all the elected officials and police officers in your area. By doing this you will know who you are looking for if they should ever turn against the local population. That’s when they won’t be wearing uniforms or driving in marked cars.

Most would be passive. But, if only 2% of gun owners resist, that's an army of 2 million. My guess is that the actual percentage would be more like 10%. Thanks to the 2nd Amendment and the "American gun culture" that so moistens Piers Morgan's knickers, we have a credible counterweight to any government bent upon tyranny.

The video is a very nicely done one of a candle light memorial. The music is what I heard played on the live video feed during the funeral/memorial service on stage the night after the fight.

Perhaps a way of offering some prayer and dignity to those that fell, and cleanse my soul after watching them die on the other video. I hope that their deaths will not be in vain.
