More WDC drama. These so called Republicans have access to the documents and all they need to do is pull the funding to any agency that messes with US. Right now the Republicans have the power of the purse and all we are getting are I OWE YOU!!!

I’ve been around long enough to have dreamed up “Cyber’s Razor:” If you are wondering about somebody’s motives, the most cynical interpretation is probably correct.

The House and Senate each have their Sgt at Arms who have the authority to arrest persons defying Congressional subpoenas. They can and have done so.

To say that Congress must rely on another Branch for enforcement is absurd.

Somebody should seriously suggest to Lerner that if she talks now, and implicates many of her superiors, she may get by with as little as 10 years in one of the nicer federal penitentiaries.

But if she holds out, there won’t be much need for her to do retirement planning.

Lerner is only a complicit toadie!

She holds the keys to the IRS kingdom.

Give her full immunity, and either she spills her guts or she goes to prison!

Lets not waste the rest of Zer0’s dictatorship, nor allow the RATS to think they can get away with illegal activity.

Give her immunity, and then call in Paladin - “have gun will travel” - I understand that he’s still hanging around Ft. Marcy park (yet vacations in Hawaii).

"To say that Congress must rely on another Branch for enforcement is absurd."

Do you know of cases where the Sgt at Arms has traveled outside DC to arrest somebody for contempt or failure to appear?

I know of none.

Congress relies on the DOJ for those services.

One other note: The House has arrested two Executive Branch officials...via the Sargent at Arms...twice in the history of the US. Both times in DC. (WikiPedia)

What are they going to do, send the Capitol Police to Maryland...or Ohio to serve the warrant?

That's what's absurd.

Okay, offer the b!+c# immunity then.

Get her on the stand and if she's been granted immunity she can't refuse to answer or she goes to jail for contempt.

Let Trey Gowdy ax the questions.

Otherwise it's just more of Issa jerking around and doing nothing.

So you contend that the authority of the Sgt at Arms is confined to DC, is that correct?

That's what's absurd.

The children are angry with the Republicans in Congress. There's no reasoning with them. They'll have the Fantastic Four or nothing. Given the nature of the Lack of Justice Department they'll have nothing.

The matter of Sam Houston’s assault on William Stanbery is in the House Journal, beginning with Stanbery’s Saturday April 14 letter to the speaker of the House claiming a breach of privilege, the issuance of the arrest order that same day, the bringing of Houston before the House on Monday April 16 through to the Friday May 11 conviction and pronouncement of sentence on Monday May 14 (reprimand). All the while Houston was in the custody of the Sergeant at Arms who arrested him.

The House ordered its sergeant-at-arms to “take in custody, wherever to be found, the body of Samuel Houston”.

“Wherever to be found” is unambiguous.

U.S. House Journal. 1832. 22nd Cong., 1st sess., 14 April.

Ah, but under oath if she lies she may be prosecuted
+++++
As I understand the procees , she has to file beforehand her intent to use the Fifth Amendment. Under that scenario she wouldn’t be subject to taking an oath because she won’t be answering any questions from the committee ergo...no lies nor truth. Even if there is a court order for her to appear, she just appears and uses the same thing.

IF they make the mistake of granting her immunity, even limited use immunity, the commitee will be opening themselves up for the same embarrassment as when the democrats fell for an immunity deal decades ago.

She may end up looking bad during the process for not giving the committee what she promised but the media and the administration will jump to her side to make her well again.

IMO

“The dirty little secret is the GOPe “leadership” approves of what the IRS has been doing.”

Indeed.

I agree with you 1,001%. These GOPe dickheads are cowards looking out for themselves. They hate our guts and our freedoms. All they care about is looking for a payday for themselves. It’s time to directly inform these gutless worms that we have lampposts from sea to shining sea.

Take care, FRiend.
