Texas high school's $60 million stadium has 'extensive cracking'

In the Dallas suburb of Allen, the local high school made national headlines in 2012 when it unveiled its $60 million football stadium.

But less than two years later, there's a major problem.

Allen Independent School District officials announced at a news conference on Thursday that the stadium has "extensive cracking" in the concourse and will close for repairs.

Found myself arguing w a cousin. She said her mother was down in NJ suffering the cosqnsez of a pipe freeze in the attic. I screeched when was that built?

She said that with global warming of course they were built like that. She said there’d never been weather like this it is the melting if the polar ice cap and the polar vooooortex!

I said, well, our house was built in 1909 (which it was), and, 100 yes back from the bay to the LI Sound, was built for hurricane specs. That it had confirmed the 1938 unnamed hurricane , a cat 3 or 4

And the 1976 cat 1

I reminded her of the car fiasco in the snow three families after a Christmas party snow falling silently pre weather channel, everyone getting stuck. Auntie not failing, uncle, not as patient

Three years ? No

Three years? Hmm. No

The first huge Texas H.S. football stadium I saw was in the Midland/Odessa area... I couldn’t believe it... It rivaled college stadiums.

Flame me if you consider this as Southern-bashing, but $60 million for a high school football stadium is simply obscene, possibly the worst example of misplaced priorities I have ever heard OF.

“I’m optimistic that we’re going to have a quick resolve to this that will not affect the football season that’s coming up,” he said.

There are now two types of high school stadiums in the South. Those that have a Jumbotron scoreboard and those that will have one.

Betting on Chinese concrete as the culprit.

I have a mental picture of "AlexW". I see a man who ran from his native land and left a family behind because he couldn't cut it here. Something he's hiding. Something dark. Probably has to do with the need to dominate a woman. Hard to find here. But. In the Philippines, from what I can tell, women can be subservient. Hence "AlexW's" reference to his wife:

Solar powered washing machine? Who needs that? I have the best washing machine in the world. It is called “wife”.
It is quite efficient, working day and night, with or without any external power.

No one I know refers to his wife as an "it". Not many call their wives "wife" which to me is insulting and shows a need to be dominate. I say "my wife" not "the wife" or simply "wife" It shows a personally detached mind from the bond of marriage. As if "the wife" is "the dog" or the "the car". It's demeaning.

As to the patriots in the pound I think we are participating in something akin to watching a graffiti artist sneak around painting obscenities on the wall and then sitting back and getting his jollies watching us react.

As long as Jim Robinson allows it there's not much we can do. Except to try to clean up the excrement left behind by "AlexW".

BTW, some of you guys make me real proud to me here in the U.S. I have my down days about the future but you all bring me back and lift me up out of the doldrums of the bad time we are going through.

Woof! Woof!

Three Year Drought?

Yes.

But it is beginning to improve.

This has happened before. It is related to the activity on the Sun. Correlates with sunspot patterns. Long long ago the last time.

Yes. It seems that with $60 mill of educational money, they could’ve anticipated (”This has happened before. It is related to the activity on the Sun”).

Just can’t understand excuse-making. We have hundred year old buildings, bridges and and homes in the older regions of the country which do not crumble.

It might get real interesting after a couple of good rains.

Great thoughts Marcella. “How much longer”? Indeed. Why are the never ending America bashing comments from the little cowardly fella allowed? The manger dawgs do not hate. If one decides to live somewhere else, great. Sitting in some defenseless third world country trying to tell us all how dumb we are for staying in America is not great. Living near a beach? Big freakin’ deal! Like that is some place to be? And we dawgs are jealous? Good God! I wouldn’t trade where I live for all the tea in China and I’ll bet the other dawgs feel the same way about their lives and locations. So the coward sits back with his DWA, as in Dish Washing Appliance, AKA as his wife, (DWA: “Mr. Alec, Mr. Alec.......me wash now? Alex: “For the last time!!!!!! Serve me my dinner FIRST, then wash”!), and continues almost daily to bash America. I wish I knew why it is allowed to continue. Various little wars happen on FR. Most are spirited, some get silly, (Guilty as charged your honor), and no one is worse for wear. But..........coming down/against/bashing our wonderful America should not happen. again Marcella, I agree: How much longer?

Somehow I overlooked his juvenile wording, how typical for the small minded man who seems to relish in stirring the pot.

I too wonder how long this will continue. There are far too many serious issues that like minded people wish to discuss and debate. To be side tracked with the crude observations by this poster does nothing to advance the conversation.

There is no value in tangling with one who has made it very clear that this country is not his home, and he has no honest interest in aiding in her recovery. Rather, his comments do nothing more than sidetrack threads and deviate from the issue at hand.

I personally enjoy reading threads where intelligent minds weed through an issue to shed light and open the possibility for future action. Debating and sharpening said skills is of immense value to anyone who is out in the real world, attending meetings of these pols and/or in group settings where the important items of the day are discussed. There are no such skills on display in the words posted by Alex.

Having said that, I doubt any of us have the time or patience for the child who runs through the room screaming, as it does nothing more than disrupt an otherwise healthy adult conversation. If Alex enjoys tossing matches on the smoldering fire, then I would suggest he be placed in a time out, as all naughty boys should.
