Missouri drivers could be able to buy a higher blend of ethanol gasoline by this summer.
A proposed rule allowing the sale of gasoline with a 15 percent ethanol blend has been on hold since last October when it was temporarily blocked by a Missouri legislative committee.
To permanently stop the rule, the full Legislature would need to pass a resolution by Monday...

And it will destroy the engines of the majority of the cars and non-diesel trucks people own and drive.
Ethanol reduces gasoline’s energy density, destroys synthetic rubber, and doesn’t reduce products of incomplete combustion in a properly working engine. It’s nothing but a political fuel additive.
I’m stuck with this ethanol crap-O-line here in NY. It destroys seals and 2 stroke engines. Don’t do it MO.
You don’t have to tell me. I’ve had to take three small engines in to get fixed thanks to regular (with ethanol) gas gumming things up. The repair guy said the introduction of ethanol was the best thing that ever happened to his business. People should only use premium i.e. no ethanol gasoline for their small engines.
Premium gas still has the same 10% ethanol content. It is just a hotter fuel that makes your small engine run better.
You still need to add an enzyme to fight the ethanol curse.
E15 will damage most motorcycles. Stupid idea in general, corn is not motor fuel. Hopefully free market will kill it.
A website called pure-gas.org has state-by-state listings of stations that sell ethanol-free gas. Useful both in home territory and when traveling.
That is the stupidest thing I ever heard. That is not good for drivers, that sucks for drivers.
Every gas pump should be required to list the contents of what is being sold. But then the should also list the amount of tax on each gallon too.
My 200 hp v6 Johnson OB had to get the power head rebuilt this summer. It was always well maintained and is only used 4-5 times a season never abused but the ethanol gas ruined it. $3000 in all.
Other than flex fuel vehicles, Missourians use E15 at their peril. Despite the EPA assurances that any vehicle made after 2001 can safely use E15, look at your owner’s manual..using any ethanol blend above 10% is not recommended and may void your warranty. I fear that E15 will be hidden from consumers at the pump. In states like Minnesota, virtually all gasoline has up to 10% ethanol with no notice at the pump.
Burning food for fuel. Simply brilliant.
Ethanol is gov't mandated and gov't subsidized. It's not going anywhere like herpes.
Gov. Rick Scott just signed something eliminating the eth mandate in FL.
Now the stickers on the pumps say the gas contains LESS than 10% eth. I guess it takes a while to get it out of the lines.
My bills were much smaller. Total bill for all three motors was under $500, but having to see the smug “oh, you’re back again” look on the face of the repair guy was humiliating.
The premium gas I use says right on the pump that no ethanol is added. Both the regular and the next grade up, whatever it’s called, has ethanol added.
the small motors I have that are 2 cycle like are so cheap that I have been buying new ones on ebay. one was the smaller of my 2 snow blowers, a Toro no less. when I brought it to the dealer, he told me that the Tecumseh company went out of business and they made the engine.
I went to ebay and some guy had dozens of them that he bought cheap when Tecumseh went out of business, I bought the thing shipped for like $70. took about half an hour to refit it into the blower....
I used to be a 4 stroke Motorcycle mechanic in the 1970s, but do not have time or patients to play with rebuilding motors anymore. that is why I bit the bullet and let old George at the ‘marine barn’ rebuild my Johnson for $3000 and he did some PM on the lower unit and replaced the water pump impeller for that price too....
