De Blasio’s anti-rich policies are driving wealthy people out of NYC
The New York Post ^ | March 2, 2014 | Michael Goodwin

Money — it’s the root of all evil. Behind every great fortune lies a great crime. Or at least an unfair advantage.

That’s the gist of the liberals’ creed and justification for their war on wealth. The other half of their view holds that the poor are innocent victims of life’s rigged game.

Their narrative of evil winners and noble losers clears the way for self-heroic redeemers. They will deliver social justice by meting out punishment and spreading the wealth around. Their virtue entitles them to power.

It sounds like a comic-book view of life, but it’s the reality of liberalism today. And thanks to the de Blasio administration, New Yorkers are getting a bitter taste of its divisive nature. So much so that talk about quitting Gotham is surging in some circles.

One friend says 10 wealthy people have told him they are leaving and another says disgusted New Yorkers bought $1 billion in residential property in Florida since the November election. The Sunshine State confers an automatic tax cut of about 12 percent because it has no city or state income tax, nor does it have an inheritance tax....

Sounds like Blasio needs to erect a Berlin wall around NYC to keep those greedy rich guys from taking ‘the peoples $$$’ out of the city.

The problem with killing "the rich" and taking their stuff is you can only do it once.

Isn’t it ironic how the Moochers and the Takers and their pimps attack the wealth creators, the builders and the makers but ignore the wealthy celebrity liberals in the sports and entertainment world, the dot.com billionaires and the wealthy liberals with inherited fortunes?

Money is not the root of all evil. ENVY of other people’s money is the root of all evil.

When the rich leave and take their money with them, who will be paying for all those “takers” left behind? Wanna guess who that will be?

Dumbass NYT, if you are going to quote scripture, at least do it correctly...

Amazing.

Did they say they were quoting scripture?

NY and Kaliforny both can fail and default because I no longer care what happens to them. I care about the Conservatives there but they can always move to a Conservative state.

Right out of the gate...."Money — it’s the root of all evil" they get something very wrong.

Looks like Texas has a multi front invasion on its hands. Question is what are you going to do about it? Mexicans make good roofers and landscapers but rich folks will do little to benefit the state and the Calicommies will do nothing but harm the rights of resident Texans. Maybe a civics test like the immigrants had to take would be the answer. Doubt they could pass it. Course during the dust bowl years a lot of people were turned away from the borders of various states. Maybe time for history to repeat.

This would be nice if it were actually happening. Where’s the proof?

Oh, my bad. I meant in terms of long-term trends. Florida went Red from 1980 to 2004, with the exception of 1996. You are correct, of course, that Obama took it both in 2008 and 2012. I see that as a sign of shifting demographics rather than a fluke (as much as I wish it was).

Thing is, that there are less places to run to; it’s not just the economy or grubbing government, there is a hostile population that is looking at people like them who are certainly viewing them as hypocrites who like a free ride, while demanding that other people pay their way while they leech.

The rich can be leeches mainly since after all, they want more breaks while the hardworking are kept in their place, be it middle class, working class, or any other class.
