The impressive box office haul for Son of God, a spiritual film culled from footage already broadcast on the hit miniseries The Bible, should bode well for Noah.

RE :”How many different animals did Noah have on the ark?”

Sunday night I watched the 1966 classic ‘In the Beginning’ for 100th time or so.

After Noah builds the Ark there is a scene where he leads a bunch of animals onto the ark, and these are animals that were only discovered thousands of years later after world wide travel was invented, like the ones from Africa far South of Eygpt.

Noah didn't know of them anymore than the writers of the books of Moses did many decades later. They only knew of animals in their local areas, and those are what are listed in the two different versions of the Noah story.

While the book of Genesis doesn't mention lions and zebras and elephants (for those reasons), the movie does show them, because in 1966 the movie creators knew about them.

The old 6000 man year gambit eh?

2 peter 3;8 gives us a multiplication formula to use when figuring long time in the bible from man’s perceived years to how the inspiration for the bible sees time - its, “with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” You did realize the bible began its count of time before there were suns and planets with which to measure such things as days, months and years...

Now are you able to figure out how many man years there can be if the 6000 year number is multiplied by each day within it being a thousand years? Regardless, The creator of time is obviously not limited to acting within its constraints. And yes per secular thought, time being a function of matter and energy was created when matter and energy were created.

RE :’How many animals were in the Ark?”

I wasn't there. In fact its very unlikely that the first writing of it was by someone who was.

But by the 1800s it was pretty obvious that no one was building a Love boat in 2000 BC.

The next time will be with fire instead of flood.

So if you don’t know how many animals were in the Ark or the makeup of the population, how do you know who wasn’t in the Ark?

RE :”So if you don’t know how many animals were in the Ark or the makeup of the population, how do you know who wasn’t in the Ark?”

That seems like yours to defend. If you don't know then how can you claim its literal history?

I know that you cant put two of every animal that exists today on the earth on a boat for many days and drop them off together in a single spot and end up with what we see today.

I know that there were no aircraft carrier sized ships being built from trees thousands of years ago.

I know the the same book has two different versions of the Noah flood story.

You made the claim that some animals weren’t in the Ark. I’m just curious what evidence led you to that conclusion. Or perhaps you just have faith that some animals weren’t in the Ark.

I never said anything about what was in the Ark

That was not exactly what I posted, I recall I posted that all the new animals discovered in the ~ 19th Century and later that the writers of the Noah stories didn't know about sunk the Ark.

Like How about the Kangaroo found in Australia only?

Yes. You are right. Again, we don't disagree. We are saying the same thing a different way, from a different point of view than the material world's.

I don't want to beat them up or support them, but instead find a way to see a positive in their negative while I forgive them their trespasses. They know not what they do. "Pray for their blessing and correction and let it go" is what I trying to teach myself to do.

The environmental pollution we are both speaking of, while observing history and the events of the day from that certain point of view I was referring to, is not something the EPA deals with.

We are to be good stewards of the Earth and the rest of creation, but that won't be the reason for His ultimate cleansing. That will have little to do with water or quality, population, etc., though those things can be a symptom of the reason.

In other words, the similarity stops at environment and what you mean by "environment" and the nature of the pollution.

Yes, the environment is polluted, and we did the polluting, but without the eyes to see it, the EPA and the rest are oblivious to why the place got flooded in Noah's day or why our story ends with a different cleansing.

Only a few pages left. Be ready to greet the One who will come like a thief in the night.

Like how did two Kangaroos get from the landed Ark to Australia without leaving a trace of being anywhere but Australia?

Best Answer, the book's writers never heard of Kangaroo's let alone seen one, so it wasn't an issue back then.

Is the obvious really what you define as failth?

That wasn't quite right. I meant to say:

"Pray for their blessing and correction and mine, then let it go" is what I trying to teach myself to do.
(Ever the prodigal son, I'm usually the one who needs correcting)

Like with my posts! My apologies. Still waiting for the coffee to hit me after a long night and little sleep.

Are you sure they didn't know about them?

Where is your evidence that they did not?

You are sort of like the guy who spent years trying to prove that apples didn't grow in the garden of Eden only to finally read the scripture and discover that apples were not mentioned in Eden in any case.

Ender's Game - Spoiler Alert:

I just watched this a couple nights ago and I really like the movie all the way until the 5 last minutes when it became a liberal puke fest. Seriously...you train for years to eliminate your enemy and then when you do it you cry about it???? and then you save the queen to start on another planet someplace all over again??? dumbest ending ever.

If God can spin the universe into being, moving a couple of ‘roos around seems pretty routine.

RE :”You are sort of like the guy who spent years trying to prove that apples didn't grow in the garden of Eden only to finally read the scripture and discover that apples were not mentioned in Eden in any case. “

The apple probably came from a Sunday school illustration for kids.

With the Noah's Flood there are actually two different versions, same with Creation, and the details are quite different.

No, I don't try to prove that magic didn't happen.

That is pointless.

RE :”If God can spin the universe into being, moving a couple of ‘roos around seems pretty routine.”

That's fine but if your answer is magic then asking others for evidence that some detail of the magic ‘didn't happen’ is just rhetoric.

Where is your proof that this magically didn't happen? ‘ is pretty silly.

Also for that reason it doesn't belong in a science class because then that class is like ‘Then there was a puff of smoke and it magically appeared, OK, I am quizzing you on this

Actually, you said it didn’t happen. I was curious how you planed to prove that something didn’t happen.

RE :”Actually, you said it didn’t happen. I was curious how you planed to prove that something didn’t happen.”

Again I don't recall posting words ‘... didn't happen...’

It should be easy for you to find.

I certainly didn't claim to be able to prove that magic didn't happen long before I was born, before there was even writing.

Seems like the burden should be on those making those claims, if anyone.
