Moments ago, embattled ex-Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner appeared before Darrell Issa's House Oversight Committee. She was supposedly there to answer questions about the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups. You may remember that President Obama has dismissed this entire scandal because he claims there wasn't "even a smidgen of corruption" involved.
That's weird, because Lois Lerner promptly invoked her rights under the 5th Amendment and refused to answer any questions. For the record, the 5th Amendment is the one that deals with not offering testimony that might incriminate yourself. You'd think that would be hard to do if the President's "not a smidgen" claim was true.
Anyway, there was no surprise here. Everyone expected that - without immunity - this was exactly what Lerner would do. The interesting part came after she clammed up and a visibly frustrated Issa adjourned the hearing.
It seems ranking Democrat Rep. Elijah Cummings had planned on doing some of his patented "inane grandstanding," and Issa derailed his intentions. Cummings would not be denied. First, he tried to pretend that he had a legitimate question, but then immediately launched into his standard set of rambling talking points. So, Issa dismissed everyone in the room and cut the power to Cummings' microphone.
This triggered a meltdown that rivalled the Fukushima reactor. Seriously. Cummings completely lost it.
"I AM A MEMBER OF THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," He bellowed. "AND I AM TIRED OF THIS!!!"

He just had one more question to axe. But he didn’t axe it.
Watergate Cummings has a nice ring to it, too.
As I watched Cummings contrived rage it occurred top me Cummings is a registered (card carrying) Progressive Socialist. If I recall correctly Lee Harvey Oswald was also a socialist traitor making believe he was a loyal American. Never trust any registered socialist. They are looking for America’s downfall.
His incoherent grandstanding gets him votes. He’s playing to the idiots who elect him time after time
Taze him. He was totally out of control. No member of congress should be allowed to act like such an ass, not even a black one. He should be expelled.
Cummings sole motivation on the committee is to aid and abet the stonewalling however he can. He does not want damning evidence presented.
Issa cut the microphone off on him while he was ranting...classic!
Elijah Cummings and his hateful racist counterpart John Lewis are examples of being in the right place at the right time. Their honest and brave efforts during the civil rights movement catapulted them into careers (and riches) they could never have dream of.
Cummings is under investigation. For using official House committee stationary to demand access to documents from Tea party orgs. And personally going to one tea party group organizers place of business and demanding access.
He attempted to be Obama’s jack booted intimidator. His attempted coverup has failed and his master is not happy.
It’s an act to distract.

IMHO, once you have signed on the dotted line, and become a listed member of either The Socialist Party, or The Communist Party, you have affirmed that you are a traitor to the founding principles, and founding documents of this nation.
Lucky you. I only have to spend 9 hours a day in that moron’s district.
How better to divert attention from the explosive content of the emails Issa quoted from in trying to get Lerner to testify - “The Tea Party business is dangerous”, “this should be taken away from the Cincy people”, “I want to have a second look at the (Rove) pac material” - she’s afraid for her life? - it isn’t Republicans who want her gone.....
