Their frustration had been mounting for weeks. But by late January national Republicans had had it with David Jolly, their candidate in Tuesdays nationally watched Florida congressional special election.
The candidate had just told the states top political reporter that he disagreed with an ad the party was airing against his Democratic opponent a spot paid for with the nearly $500,000 the GOP had already spent on Jollys behalf.
Are you f-ing kidding me? a senior National Republican Congressional Committee official told a Jolly staffer over the phone, according to two sources familiar with the conversation. Would the Jolly campaign prefer that the NRCC stop spending money in the race altogether? the official asked.
Over the past week, a half-dozen Washington Republicans have described Jollys campaign against Democrat Alex Sink as a Keystone Cops operation, marked by inept fundraising, top advisers stationed hundreds of miles away from the district in the state capital and the poor optics of a just-divorced, 41-year-old candidate accompanied on the campaign trail by a girlfriend 14 years his junior. The sources would speak only on condition of anonymity.

Where would be be without Politico and its unbiased, non-agenda-driven factfinding? /s
Thanks CF.
Medved is a RINO lovin’, TEA Party hatin’ idiot. I have absolutely no respect for him.
Were they not funding him? They seemed to want something to do with him until he made them look bad. Considering how often this ‘Unexpectedly!” happens it’s either intentional or incompetence. I’d say intentional.
If you feel worn down and increasingly hopeless over the actions of the GOP and it’s chosen candidates, as many do, perhaps it’s because that’s the effect they are going for. Because not even the admitted libs are this incompetent.
I don’t know who you’re mad at, no one of electoral significance bothered to run for the seat. State Rep. Kathleen Peters obviously isn’t all that or else Jolly wouldn’t have beaten her so easily in the primary.
Don’t give a damn about his personal life, I hope the voters aren’t so foolish to not vote for him because he’s divorced and has a new girlfriend that younger than him (but hardly a baby in a cradle), it’s not the bible belt or the 1950’s.
Politico wants him to lose so I don’t care what they write. If he does lose it will probably be because the liartarian stole enough votes to hand Stink a plurality.
Plus when DNC party leaders AND mega-vote-getters-----Obama and Michele------spent the past week in sunny Florida, they put their collective weight behind Sink ....and even campaigned for her several times.
ROTFLOL.
Nuts and sluts.
Some interesting facts about this race:
(1)Although the 'rats are claiming the district is traditionally GOP, it obviously didn't have the same geographical boundaries before the 2012 election as it does now. But in that 2012 election, OBAMA carried it!
(2)The 'Rat candidate Sink outspent Jolly on TV advertising by more than 3 to 1.
(3)The total number of votes, 182,000 plus, sounds rather high for a congressional special election. Can someone compare that to other vote totals in other special House district elections around the country in recent years? Were there irregularities (guess which party was more likely to participate in them) which artificially inflated the vote total? (Remember that each House district around the country has approximately the same total population.)
I really enjoy FL election threads. Some sharp analysts in the gunshine state.
FWIW, in our TX Senate race last week, only about 7 million was spent in the R primary with 7 candidates.
It's St. Pete. Democrats will win the mummy vote.

You might be right, but sometimes, like in this race, it seems as if there weren't enough mummies that could be found to make up their deficit, for which we have to be thankful.

FloriDuh...... no one ever says TexasDuh...
Good to see Sink fail 2x in a row!!! By and large female candidates are awful even the Republican ones///// who I will vote for due to being the least worst
If bogus Dem ballots were in...they obviously were not enough to undo this Republican win
NO, In Illinois candidates have to be Pro Abortion, Pro Gay Marraige, and Pro Amnesty to br considered GOOD candidate material to the GOP, and thats a FACT!
Democrats are so screwed in November.
Thanks for the ping!
It's a silly argument, and a 14 year difference isn't at all unusual. Even Republican guys think Kucinich's younger wife is a plus.....methinks the whiners are getting desperate.
More propaganda.
