Now we know why Rand Paul has endorsed Mitch McConnell (Vanity)
March 18, 2014 | Din Maker

I just found out some information today that enlightened me as to why Rand Paul has endorsed Mitch McConnell. McConnell's Campaign Manger, Jesse Benton, is part of the Paul family. He is married to Ron Paul's grand daughter and Rand Paul's niece. I wonder if Mitch hiring Rand's nephew-in-law was part of the deal for Rand's endorsement? This is what Benton told the Huffington Post:

"I believe in Senator McConnell and am 100 percent committed to his re-election. Being selected to lead his campaign is one of the great honors of my life and I look forward to victory in November of 2014."

Well, that answers a lot of questions.

And, I thought the McConnell had incriminating pictures of Rand, but maybe they are pictures of Rick Perry.

I have problem only with stupid candidates, no matter how pure. Cruz, Lee, Rand etc also had opposition from GOPe but they are not stupid and won.

Moral of the story is “Winning is the only thing” per coach Lombardi.

Nope, just call me a cold hard realist. I stopped being a dreamer after age 25 or so.

The Tea Party endorsed Rand Paul, I think they now have buyers remorse.

Rand ain’t no Tea Party man, how could he support McConnell who has said so many anti Tea Party things and been behind efforts to destroy the Tea Party movement.

Let me add that if you turn on your friends Rand the Tea Party who backed you when nobody in the GOPe would give you a second thought, then I don’t trust you at all.

Loyalty to ones friends first then deal making with the GOPe
on your terms without shafting your friends. If you can’t live that way I have little use for you.

Paul should be Backing Matt Bevin if he really is sympatico
with Tea Party principles

Yep, makes sense of why Rand gave up medicine and went into the family business.

Spoken like a democrat.

Spoken like a Ruling Class MarxoFascist stooge who hates Conservatives.

You do understand how the Republic works?

You do understand how treason to support a coup works? Your pals McConnell and Boehner have done more to advance Obama's agenda and silence Conservative opposition than the Democrats have.

You cannot advance an agenda without controlling a majority?

Don't hand us that crap. Your GOP Establishment HAD A CONTROLLING MAJORITY FOR 6 YEARS. YOUR GOP ESTABLISHMENT got us into this mess, spent more than any other Administration and greased the skids for Obama. Why the hell do you think they lost in 2006????

Those who refuse to support a conservative alliance are nothing more than 0bama enablers.

Get bent, you are projecting. McConnell and Boehner are NOT any kind of Conservatives and they have done more to enable Obama than another. Who handed him a blank check? Who tore into Cruz and Lee? Exactly - your Judenrat GOP leadership.

Those who stay home and allow liberals to win elections are worse than any RINO…

So are those who support traitors and demand everyone else sacrifice principles for party. You people foisted Dole, McCain and Romney on us. Now you are pushing Christy or Jeb. We're DONE with your party.

BTW, none of us stayed home. We simply voted for Conservatives. We know that is a great sin to RINO party hacks like yourself.

It seems to me that Rand Paul is a little bit Paultard, a little bit GOPe, and a little bit conservative. I think he’s more Paultard than he lets on, because he knows he can’t go too far with his father’s views. I hope Cruz stays far away from him. He’s better than a pure GOPe kind of guy, a McConnell or Boehner or (God forbid) McCain, but not much.

Jesse Benton, campaign manager for Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), said that he was holding his nose while working for McConnell and thinking of the long-term best interests of Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), according to a recording of a phone conversation posted by the Economic Policy Journal, a libertarian-leaning website.

“Between you and me, I’m sorta holdin’ my nose for two years, cause what we’re doin’ here is gonna be a big benefit to Rand in 2016, so that’s the long vision,” Benton reportedly said, apparently referring to a possible presidential run by Paul.

According to the Economic Policy Journal, the recorded conversation took place between Benton and Dennis Fusaro of the Reformed Theological Seminary on Jan. 9, 2013. Fusaro confirmed to the Weekly Standard that he made and later released the recording.

Conservatives here are NOT voting for McConnell in the general. He’s going to get stomped.

It looks like they can get the Senate without him. And if they did get the Senate with him in charge of it, that would be his way to destroy the country by adopting what Dems have been doing for 6 years. If I lived in KY, I would stay home if McConnell gets the nod. What are the primary numbers looking like?

I agree with you. McConnell is Arlen Spector. We were not better off reelecting him; we would have been better off dumping him in the 70s.

Even a GOP takeover of the Senate won’t change anything unless two things happen.

A. The takeover is big enough that the Rinos, like McCain and Collins can’t change the outcome of the conservatives votes to reverse Obama policy.

B. McConnell is gone and we can get conservative leadership, and I don’t mean Cornhole.

Honestly, this is sort of a non-story if you know a little about how the “background” world of politics works.

I’ve actually had two family members working opposite campaigns against each other and still come over and watch a ball game.

Paul’s gand-neice (or whatever) could be a staunch conservative or whatever, but it really doesn’t have anything to do with Rand Paul.

I’d hate to be judged by what or with whom my nieces associate with at any given, random time.

Ok Einstein... explain your plan for advancing a conservative agenda? How are you going to do it without gaining a majority in Congress and without gaining a majority in the Presidential election. Based upon your comments I don’t think you have the faintest idea how the constitution works.
