Too much inequality and too few natural resources could leave the West vulnerable to a Roman Empire-style fall

Navigate to the Previous Story in this Section TECHHere's How NASA Thinks Society Will CollapseToo much inequality and too few natural resources could leave the West vulnerable to a Roman Empire-style fall.

Few think Western civilization is on the brink of collapse—but it's also doubtful the Romans and Mesopotamians saw their own demise coming either.

If we're to avoid their fate, we'll need policies to reduce economic inequality and preserve natural resources, according to a NASA-funded study that looked at the collapses of previous societies.

"Two important features seem to appear across societies that have collapsed," reads the study. "The stretching of resources due to the strain placed on the ecological carrying capacity and the economic stratification of society into Elites and Masses."

Communists have apparently infiltrated NASA for this kind of CRAP to be paid for by my tax dollars.

What will cause, indeed what IS CAUSING our fall is MORAL DECAY.

We murder babies in the womb, we abrogate personal property rights, we FORCE the celebration of sodomy and perversion, AND we purposely walk away from long-time allies.

Society is turning away, with vitriol, from Christianity, the Constitution, and capitalism.

NASA, I could have told you that....

The stratification of elites and masses is due to the leftist elites trying to achieve said stratification,
while they harangue the rest of us about it.

Well, part of the reason it will collapse is because trillions of dollars are being spent on useless studies funded by our government masters.

Shouldn’t NASA just explore space and STFU?

I see it as just the opposite. Too many freeloaders who vote for inane leaders.

I agree with Glenn Beck that NASA should be padlocked. Let the private sector explore space.

NASA: Nothing About Space Anymore

This is what happens when a society allows females to take control of it. Think 'emasculation' and raising boys to be girls. 0bama was raised by a feminist single mother and a transgender, cross-dressing nanny and NASA now reflects that.

The Roman-style fall came because of a bloated, corrupt, complex, centralized, authoritarian government spent itself into oblivion, and made their currency worthless through devaluation and inflation.

They may at least have the “Roman” part correct

NASA, the BSA, Health Insurance, GM, college loans, the price of gasoline, etc.

Commie tactic - Infiltrate society by getting a hold of the leadership of groups. Make it appear as if the entire organization is on your side.

Economic and technological development create a cleaner , less polluted environment and a higher standard of living for all.

The stratification of the population into the “elites” and “masses” is a by product of the current Leftist political mindset running our government wherein access to prosperity is intentionally limited by political fiat except, of course, for the ruling elites who make themselves exempt from the laws and regulations that they, the elite, pass that are beggaring the masses

If society collapses it will be due to the inevitable failure of a global nanny state.

In other words: Picture what is happening in Venezuela today — happening all over the world at once.

Obviously, none of these morons has taken a history class. Roman society was always stratified. Production decreases in the late Empire, however, are generally attributed to . . . global cooling and pestilence.

This is nothing more than repackaged Marxism. The intriguing difference is Marx believed that because of his dialectical materialism the triumph of the communists was inevitable. These fools aren't so sure - they are just bleating if we don't create a Marxist society we will all die.

I'll take my chances.

Nasa has become a joke, close it down.

All they are doing is spouting leftest drivel and making up climate data to promote the lefts agenda

I’m curious what depletion of resources they think caused the Roman Empire to collapse.

The RE collapsed mainly because of nearly constant civil wars, and those were caused by their never devising a legitimate principle for succession to power.

Any successful general could aspire to become Emperor, so Emperors were always (legitimately) of successful generals, and tended to execute them as a precaution. Which of course almost forced even successful general who might have preferred to remain loyal to revolt in self-defense.

It also meant, of course, that emperors tended to kill off their best generals, which left them more vulnerable to foreign enemies. With all its flaws, the later European principle of primogeniture at least meant general could concentrate on fighting the country’s enemies, and kings didn’t have to worry about them usurping the throne.

The issues of moral decay and ruin are, as you point out, fundamentally a spiritual issue. Our societal malaise is a spiritual malaise - we need God to bring about another Great Awakening to the need for a Savior, Jesus Christ.

On the economic front, which NASA seems to be addressing, they are also way off and sounds like they've also been infiltrated and indoctrinated by the hideous Agenda 21 whose mantra is "sustainability." God made the earth more than "sustainable". There is no "sustainability" problem - that is a myth and a fantasy of the Left who want to use any excuse to violate our freedoms with more government coercion.

The other phony excuse used here is "equality" causing our demise. How stupid is that? The absence of freedom in the face of overbearing government will cause a society to fail, like the USSR. As Milton Friedman once said, "A society that puts equity first will have neither equality nor freedom [because equality first is achieved by government coercion]. A society that put freedom first will have great deal of both freedom and equality."

...we'll need policies to reduce economic inequality and preserve natural resources (for the ruling elite)...

And a crapload of money to pay all the (non producing) government employees and Public Servants Masters to enforce those policies.

Fortunately, we have printing presses so money is no object!
