Honolulu police officers have urged lawmakers to keep an exemption in state law that allows undercover officers to have sex with prostitutes during investigations, touching off a heated debate.
Authorities say they need the legal protection to catch lawbreakers in the act. Critics, including human trafficking experts and other police, say it's unnecessary and can further victimize sex workers, many of whom have been forced into the trade.

I understand the humor and all, but I do not think many police officers are going to volunteer to go undercover among homicidal maniacs just to get a piece of ass.
Has to be a tough assignment for the guys working the male prostitute side, or do they subcontract that out to the SFPD?
Yeah, seems like a fairly easy way to figure out if someone is an undercover cop or a legitimate scumbag. ‘Have sex with this trick, or we will know you’re a cop.’

If it was a male prostitute ring, I bet they’d change their tune about that “exception”.
They should just legalize prostitution, then it’s OK for everyone not just the cops.
