This year, however, because of technical glitches plaguing the rollout of the federal and some state health insurance exchanges, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services gave states the option of allowing people who had difficulties enrolling to qualify for subsidized exchange coverage retroactively to Jan. 1 or the day in 2014 of their original application. In states where the federal government runs the exchange there is also a procedure in place for retroactive coverage.

Retroactive health insurance. Wonder if it will work with car insurance?

Originally, “insurance” was based on the probability that something would happen. It now means getting subsidies for things that will happen. So, you can wait until you’re diagnosed with cancer. But your payment may be as much as getting it treated without “insurance.”

I always disclose my plans to commit insurance fraud on the internet. Santa Cruz sentinal says it all. Go down to cliff drive... and jump.

Doesn’t surprise me that the person asking that lives in the Santa Cruz area. He/she/it is probably an old hippie living the surf boarding life and barely paying for anything.

Some greying ponytail trolling on how to legally commit insurance fraud.

Next is ObamaLife insurance. Insurance companies will not be able to deny you on the basis of “preexisting conditions”, so your family will be able to buy life insurance on you after you’re dead.

How far would you get if you tried this after your house burned down?

Security concerns? Really?

You didn’t want to spend the money. That is the real reason. Then you got sick.

I feel for you as a fellow human being. But no, you do not deserve a nickel of insurance that others have paid into.

That’s life.n it’s full of crappy choices. And you made the crappiest.

Obama and his administration may be stupid. Insurance companies are not. The answer to that question is a big, fat "no".

After a hospital stay, can I buy insurance to cover my bills?

Yes, but it will only cover about 30% of the total bill. Even more likely is that it won't provide coverage AT ALL for YOUR type of procedure and the MEDICINES you got.

Now, if you have a sex change, then you're good.

YES really. And it's not a silly question.

YES, you can do this, in certain cases. Insurance companies can be required to provide insurance retroactively under the new ACA laws( or ZEROCARE, as I call it).

Those eligible for post dcing insurance will be the families/partners of: gays, illegal aliens, and so called people of color.

The rest of us will have to pay a special tax for the known dead because we were the lucky ones in life.

Millions of potential customers and no competition in the retroactive insurance business.

Sounds like something Joe Biden would recommend.

Gosh, everyone keeps missing the point.

Sure, you can no longer be denied PURCHASING insurance on the basis of "pre-existing conditions". However, those "conditions" may be excluded for "coverage", and most certainly are not covered for 6 months AFTER you start paying for insurance.

Remember the ACA is about BUYING INSURANCE. Not about providing health care.
