RAND PAUL TO CALIFORNIA REPUBLICANS: EVOLVE, ADAPT, OR DIE
Breitbart ^ | April 6, 2014 | GOP-e Sen. Rand Paul

Posted on 04/06/2014 5:43:23 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Evolve, adapt or die. That is the fate of our current Republican party. We must evolve as a party and find a way to attract millennials to the conservative movement or we will never succeed in realizing our ideals of individual freedom and freedom from government interference.

Initially, I received criticism from political pundits for speaking to non-traditional audiences. I was told it was a waste of time to reach out to these audiences, specifically students from both Howard University and University of California, Berkeley.

My response is this: I have never been one to watch the world go by without participating. I wake up each day hoping to make a difference.

You might be a Republican, Democrat or Independent. I speak before these audiences, not to preach or prescribe some special formula.

My intention is not to tell you what to be. You are more important than any political party or partisan pleadings. My intention is to motivate all Americans and defend their rights.

My hope is that in discussing these topics, more Americans will be open to the conservative message. A message that favors choice in education, a less aggressive foreign policy, more compassion regarding non-violent crime and encourages opportunity in employment.

As a conservative [*cough, *cough] politician, it is clear to me that we must start discussing these topics more with audiences that might not normally hear our message--specifically young adults and students.

Preaching to the choir is not working for the conservative movement. We are growing stale and moss-covered. We must evolve, adapt or die.

Well, Mr. Paul, then your party can die.

It won’t be mourned or missed.

I’m not changing, and I’m not following you.

That is all.

When the foundation has gotten weak and crumbly, attempting moves that are too vigorous will hurt the foundation more than they will hurt what the moves are directed against.

America is in a woeful, woeful spot.

It will need to build up its spiritual strength again before it can hope to get a lot of the present hassles out of its hair. And this is a church mission, not a political mission.

Just this morning the pastor at my church (SBC in good standing) pointed out that now, missionaries are coming from abroad to evangelize in America. It only makes sense.

Rand Paul never sent money to McConnell?

Randie’s (Reinventing a New Direction) PAC donated, alright....

National Republican (RINO) Senatorial Cmte $15,000
Republican Party of South Carolina $5,000

Paul is much better than Ryan. I am for everyone who is for smaller government.

Wrong. Jeb is even worse than RP. I would never vote for either.

“No thanks. I’ll fight ‘em ‘til I die.”

No thanks to this?:

“My intention is to motivate all Americans and defend their rights.”

That is a good thing. You don’t have to compromise your principles to agree with it either.

It is said that one definition of insanity is to keep on doing the same thing and hoping the result will differ.

While this is not to impugn genuine perseverance on a path that is known to eventually bear fruit, it should also get us to think when we’ve been doing the same thing a long time and seemed to get nowhere.

Is something lacking in the picture?

You might kid about heartless, but could it be that heart is what is lacking? And yet not any old heart turned any old way. A specific heart invested in a specific Lord.

RAND PAUL TO CALIFORNIA REPUBLICANS: EVOLVE, ADAPT, OR DIE

California Republicans have already been throwing away core principles for decades now in the name of evolving and adapting. Not coincidentally, the party is dying. There are plenty of younger voters who are disenchanted with Obama and the Democrats, having lived through 6 years of liberal rhetoric put into action and still living with their parents as a result. But the California GOP doesn't tell those younger voters or anyone else how it can do better than the Democrats - instead it tries to pander to the same special interest groups as the Democrats, but offers to do so using a watered down Democrat-lite approach.

It's not a message that can appeal to anyone who's experienced the disillusionment of liberalism put into action - California Republicans see liberal policies destroying a once great state, and all they can propose in response is to implement those same policies a little more slowly. Way to win hearts and minds, California GOP.

Could Cruz pick up some “tricks” from Paul’s bag? It’s not a matter of treating some matters as unworthy, but as prioritizing them correctly.

Paul strikes me as cold here and that is quite the wrong tone. It immediately got Jim Rob bristling. I’d bristle too if I hadn’t already looked deeper at the actual thrust of Paul’s plans.

... or death. In fact loss of liberty, which comes from the life of God, is a death.

Paul’s tone is very bad here. As a statesman he’d flub. He wants to pick up the small government people, but at the expense of sounding callous about pressing issues. If he could explain why these issues can wait we might listen. But he’s talking down to us.

We are not shrinking because we need to “evolve.” We are shrinking because we can’t get our message out. That is precisely why Cruz is so loved. He gets the message out and is unapologetic in doing so.

The political message could be wonderful and unless people want to listen, it would get ignored.

For a creationist he’s adopted an awfully Darwinian slant on things.

It could be clumsy verbiage, but it’s very understandable how this is going to rub conventional conservatives the wrong way.

Yeah he wants to motivate and defend the “rights” of the moderates, progressives, homosexualists, illegals and brainwashed youth he’s pandering to. For example, the moderates, progressives, homsosexualists, illegals and brainwashed youth think their “rights” include things like aborting babies, same-sex marriage, free condoms, snorting coke, illegally crossing the border, free healthcare, free education, etc, etc, etc. No thanks. I will not evolve, adapt or pander.

The message no jobs once they graduate, of massive student loan debt certainly would resonate with the young! The disaster of Obamacare alone will resonate with recent grads.
No need to sell out on social issues.
