Thomas Friedman On Conservatives Questioning Global Warming:...That’s Trotskyite Radicalism’

“New York Times” columnist Thomas Friedman took a nasty swipe at conservatives over the subject of climate change on Sunday April 6. Friedman appeared alongside Heidi Cullen of Climate Central on Sunday’s CBS This Morning and proceeded to mock conservatives who question human-caused climate change.

Speaking to host Bob Schieffer, Friedman claimed that 97 percent of scientists believe in climate change and “conservatives are saying I’m going go to with the 3%. That’s not conservative, that’s Trotskyite radicalism.” [See video below.]

(video at link)

Friedman’s obnoxious comments came after Schieffer wondered, “In our politics now, everything breaks on these ideological lines. It just breaks. Is there such a break in the scientific community? How does the scientific community come down on this whole idea of climate change?”

The Times columnist then misleadingly argued: “Let me put it in personal terms. So your son or daughter has a disease and you go to 100 doctors. 97% of them, 97 of the hundred say this is the cause and this is the cure. And 3% say this is the cause and this is the cure. That is what it is on the climate science.”

Friedman is not the first person to use the misleading “97 percent of experts” claim, which has been refuted numerous times. Unfortunately, Schieffer failed to challenge Friedman for his attack on conservatives or for his use of an erroneous statistic. Instead, the CBS host allowed his guest to go on an extended monologue to push his climate change agenda unchallenged.

CBS

Face the Nation

April 6, 2014

10:50 a.m. Eastern

BOB SCHIEFFER: Tom, let me just ask you this question. In our politics now, everything breaks on these ideological lines. It just breaks. Is there such a break in the scientific community? How does the scientific community come down on this whole idea of climate change?

THOMAS FRIEDMAN: Let me put it in personal terms. So your son or daughter has a disease and you go to 100 doctors. 97% of them, 97 of the hundred say this is the cause and this is the cure. And 3% say this is the cause and this is the cure. That is what it is on the climate science. 97% of experts say this and 3% say that and conservatives are saying I’m going go to with the 3%. That’s not conservative, that’s Trotskyite radicalism. Okay? That you would go with the 3% and not the 97%. To pick up on something that Heidi said. I don't like to use the term global warming because that sounds so cuddly. To a Minnesota boy Bob that sounds like golf in February. I much prefer the term global weirding because that’s actually what happens. The hots get hotter, the wets get wetter, the dries get dryer and the more violent storms, for the reasons Heidi outlined, are most likely to become more severe and that is what he we saw in Syria. We saw a four-year drought, worst in Syria's modern history that preceded the revolution there and produced a million refugees that basically laid the predicate for that revolution

Labeling opponents “Trotskyite” is a Liberal Dog whistle calling for the hunting down and assassination of opponents.

The more science you know, the less worried you are about climate

Thus, in a just-published US National Science Foundation-funded study, participants’ science knowledge and numeracy was tested and compared with levels of concern regarding climate change. The soft-studies profs were amazed, however, to find that as one moves up the scale of science knowledge and numeracy, people become more sceptical, not less.

Our goobermint’s answer to this will to be:

Deny grants, loans or scholarships for hard sciences students and increase those for journalism majors. (gotta have them to spread the BS from the “studies” put out by the race baiters ,”queer studies” majors, women’s studies students, and “environmental justice” majors.)

Thomas Friedman On Conservatives Questioning Global Warming: ‘That’s Not Conservatism, That’s Trotskyite Radicalism’

How ironic as Stalin (aka Democrat Party) had Trotsky assassinated.

Thomas Friedman is the same idiot who, when given the opportunity, didn't ask Hillary a single question about Benghazi. A true liberal "journalist" if there ever was one.

Thomas “Loopy” Friedman is a Stalinist. Trotskyite is one of the worst insults he can use.

I’m guessing this is somewhere in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. Therefore, I assure you, all of his neighbors agree with his points of view.

97% say they have the cure and 3% take the opposite position and say they have the cure and all could be wrong!

What a BS technique. Once I would have expected better of SeeBS, but they are little better than an infomercial, which is where that technique should stay.

All they've got to sell is the fear they're using to get money, power and control, so they sell it with propaganda, made up statistics and the testimonies of fools, just like any other crappy product no sane person would buy.

Humans are good, bad and a few of us ugly, but no matter how much we think of ourselves, the Earth is bigger and badder and its climate has been in constant flux long before humans got here.

And now we want to take credit for it?

GW is Lysenko science, now known as junk science. It is science by dictate of political agenda which makes it nothing close to science.

They have to drive the Climate Change/Global Warming nail home to complete the Agenda 21 goal of the de-industralization and control of America. Just like high UN official, Maurice Strong stated was their responsibility back in ‘92 at The Earth Summit when Agenda 21 was introduced.

Friedman’s analogy is a whole pile of fail.

To be truthful, the “100 doctors” would consist of 90 that specialize in other fields than the one your child is ailed with.
All 97 that “agree” on a cause and course of treatment get paid if they attribute that cause and treatment,
and don’t get paid if they don’t.

97% of scientists? Surely Freidman knows that they are agreeing with the political, not empirical science

He just revealed his purposeful liberal ignorance by saying “the worst in Syria’s MODERN history”. So he clearly knows there have been previous serious droughts in the Middle East (duh, great job, genius, it’s a desert), yet this time - for sures! - it’s because of global, er, weirding. *sigh* Oh, just give him another Nobel, I think you can buy them off ebay now.

Remember history. Trotsky became so disgusted with Stalin’s excesses he left Russia, but he was hunted down by Stalin’s agents and murdered.

Show me the 97 percent of scientists. When an argument starts with a bogus premise, what follows is nonsense. Anthropogenic global warming is social science first and foremost, and the more socialist the scientists, the more adamant they are about man’s role in perpetuating the recent ice age thaw. Follow the money, and you will find the fuel of climate models, where the 97 percent of some percentage of all scientists hangout. And if you buy into it, the next question is, how much harm are you willing to do to mankind to save us from the inevitable.(?)

Stalin killed Trotski and members of his family. I can only imagine what Stalin’s prodigy has in store for evil climate deniers.
