Cliven's son Ryan Bundy shared video of what he believed to be a mass grave dug by the government.
He noted that at least one dead cow could be seen in the 18-by-45 foot area.

Some peeps apparently got into trouble for attempting to look into dump truck beds to see what carnage might be hiding in there.
That would explain why the BLM backed down. Confiscating the herd for subsequent auction might be within the rulings of the courts. On the other hand, killing the herd would be seen as pure spite on behalf of the the Feds. They couldn’t allow that to hit the 10 o’clock news coverage, because everyone would see it for what it was: bullying.

Talking with a lawyer friend of mine who has dealt with BLM issues before, Bundy doesn't have much of a legal case. However if they killed the cattle (which I suspect was the point of this little game), now he has a HUGE case.
In short, they can take you cattle to auction to pay for back fees, but they can't just kill them.
And where is PETA during all this..this would have been a cause that I would have supported along with them had they even bothered to get involved but nope, not a peep from the so-called group that cares about animals..guess the only animals they care about are the liberal ones(And I wouldnt even know what a liberal animal looks like)

If your friend hasn’t dealt with the BLM in Nevada, then he doesn’t understand the historically established grazing easement that Bundy holds - if he would argue his case based on Nevada grazing law, he would win. People get their undies in a bunch over paying fees or not paying fees...he owned the easement, by Nevada law, before the feds took possession of the land - the feds cannot charge a citizen to use an easement they already own. So far the case has been argued on the bases of the feds not having the right to own the land - his grazing easement is valid, even if the feds can own the land.
The BLM paid almost 1 million dollars to the contract cowboys from Utah to round up the cattle for a million dollar debt they claim is due - now that makes no sense. There is no question this is all about bullying and spite.

Gov of Utah issued an order those cattle from Bundy’s could not cross the state line, so BLM weren’t going to find anyone or any auction willing to take rustle cattle. That idea was over & done before the standoff finished.
