BUNKERVILLE A GMC pickup motors across a bridge over the Virgin River, kicking up a cloud of desert.
The door swings open. This is my ticket inside the militia thats become rancher Cliven Bundys fighting brigade.
Brandon Rapolla, a 39-year-old concrete mixer from Oregon, steers the truck toward the militia camp thats assembled to support Bundys battle with the Bureau of Land Management.
Theres an assault rifle propped between Rapollas knees. A .338 Magnum rifle, designed to take down big game at a distance the length of three football fields or more, rests within arms reach on the back seat under a ghillie suit thats used by snipers to blend with the brush. Next to my left leg, on the console, theres a 7-inch Marine-issued knife.
Rapolla is prepared for a war with his government. His guns, he says, arent just a show of force. Not knowing what to expect when he rolled into town, he says he was ready to die and, if he must, shoot a federal agent.
Our pistols are shooting through my f****** window if theres a roadblock, then were f****** getting out, he said. Were gonna go to wherever the guns are blazing. Were not gonna walk to a f****** bloody (battlefield).
In a brief rant from his truck bed, Rapolla used the F-bomb seven times to describe his anxiety and adrenaline he felt driving into Bunkerville.
As they arrived in Nevada, Rapolla and fellow militia members said they were convinced the BLM was bent on wiping out Bundy and his family....

He’s a former sheriff, IIRC.
The BLM offered Bundy a contract that would ruin him. In order for him to be able to pay the grazing fees, he MUST sign the contract.
He can't pay the grazing fees to the BLM until he signs the contract.
Bingo!
Democratically elected government? Who the hell ever voted for the BLM? Evil and moronic lamestream media strikes again.
It would be interesting to see a state try to take over federally owned lands by eminent domain and cite the Kelo decision in their case to do so....
It’s all coming together now, just as it was foretold in the Bible. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about Matthew 24, especially verse 23: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.”
I have a and have shot an ordinary 338 Mag, and as much as I know they are not assault rifles; just darned good long distance not only for big game but good for long range varmint hunting. If one gets more serious they can go with a 338 Lapua.
Famed luxury camps: is the author from planet earth?
I strongly suspect that there was some "brown" mixed in with the "yellow"...
the infowarrior
invaders are the ones seeking to do damage to life or property
defenders are those seeking to protect life and property
by this definition, the defenders were the militia and the invaders... the BLM
I suppose the writer meant "wary" as opposed to "weary"?
Or maybe he means they are tired after carrying around all those "WWII airplane bullets."
Probably!
You failed to touch on the Climate Cultists who are uberkooks, who are willing to discard the data in order to maintain their belief that they can control climate by controlling people.
Blackwater, among others, was sent in for Katrina. The local LEOs were overwhelmed, when they weren’t looting or simply ghosts (at a convention in Las Vegas, IIRC) to skim the payroll and fatten the budget.
.
The writer certainly gets his little jabs in by inserting a word here and there where he can to make the militia types out as “Domestic Terroist”.
Who’s surprised?

It would be more interesting if al the local governments wherein the USSC justices have property seized it while citing Kelo. (IMO this would be the quickest, most sure way to overturn Kelo.)
Dittos ! Many thanks !
