BLACK LEADER (Alan Keyes) SAYS NEVADA RANCHER BUNDY'S REMARKS NOT RACIST-It's the Truth
Liberty News ^ | 24 Apr 14 | Bob Unruh

A prominent black leader is coming to the defense of embattled Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, who was pilloried on Thursday after the New York Times published a quote by him referencing slavery.

“He wasn’t talking so much about black folks, but about the harm and damage that the leftist socialism has done to blacks,” said former U.N. Ambassador Alan Keyes, who also is a columnist for WND.

Ammon Bundy, Cliven Bundy’s son, told WND that the quotes were taken out of context and that his father was commiserating over the poor situation in which blacks find themselves because of oppressive government programs, regulations and practices.

Keyes said that was evident.

“I find it appalling that we basically have a history of the leftist liberalism that wants to extinguish black people by abortion [and] destroying the family structure,” Keyes told WND. “All of these things if you just look at the effects, you would say this was planned by some racist madman to destroy the black community.”

Then when somebody comes along to comment on that damage, the leftists all scream “racism,” he said.

“I think it’s time somebody started to recognize the racism that exists in its effects – the hard leftist ideology using the black community for their sacrificial lamb, for their sick ideology. It’s time we called them what they are,” he said.

“Now it’s racist to point it out.”

The damage here is that the left had to destroy Bundy on a personal level. They also wanted to move the dialog from federal agencies making policy and regulations that have the force of law, and by having that power can take whatever property they want, charge you fees/taxes whenever they want, and change the rules anytime they want.

They wanted to move the attention away from the BLM’s aggressive use of military level force against an American citizen, who, even if you grant the court’s rulings against Bundy, did not deserve such treatment used toward him and his family.

So, how did they do that? They got Bundy to talk about an irrelevant topic such as race. They could have gotten him to talk about homosexuality, but that’s not strong enough - no, “racism” is far more damaging a charge.

As to what Bundy actually said, that Blacks were better off as slaves rather than as dependents of the state, could have been stated in a more positive way. Human slavery is terrible and implying that things were better for blacks as literal slaves is probably not the best way to make one’s case.

But, I do think he was taken out of context in that he was trying to point out that there is more than one kind of slavery, and in regard to liberty and freedom, being a dependent of the state is also a form of enslavement as well - it destroys personal development to full maturity as a human being, and, makes one helpless to take care oneself or one’s family. So, in regard to human liberty and freedom, isn’t dependency on the state just another form of slavery? Is there any quicker way to destroy the moral fiber of another person or a race of people than to provide everything for them without them having to do anything in return?

My point exactly. Look, Bundy is an average guy. He holds certain beliefs that are the sum total of how he was raised and what he gleaned from life experiences. I don't think that he is a bad guy. He may not be politically correct. I got news for you, millions of average Americans are not politically correct. Why descend on him and drive folks like that further underground? Is there a kernel of truth in there? The man's whole life was probably based on the virtues of hard work. He probably cannot understand how anyone would want to live a life not working. He has to pay a portion of that hard work to give to people who do not work. Is that not a valid reason to criticize these people? The liberals like to play this game of gothca.

It’s not off topic. Slavery comes in many forms and progresses quickly. Before the first slave was ever sold in Africa, his worth was minimized. The BLM/Fedgov has minimized the worth of every person to that of a serf on the Kings land and taking the Kings Deer is now every bit the crime it was 1000 years ago. Every new rule/taking minimized us more. And we are as slaves.

They are very related.

To advocate big government is to advocate slavery.

Bundy is against slavery, the BLM are in favor of it.

From the text.

Then when somebody comes along to comment on that damage, the leftists all scream "racism," he said.

Somehow all the reaction to Rancher Bundy has rang a distant bell in my head. (laughs). I remembered vaguely that a Russian called Ivan Pavlov did some experiments with dogs. He could condition them to respond to a stimulus. All this might be far out but..... I went to Wikipedia and found this item. Conditioned Emotional Response.

I asked myself this, that over the years the leftists have so destroyed or reduced people. People who have innocently said something about Black people and were then jumped on. This had them blubbering out denials and apologies and saying "some of my best friends are....." So devastating is the smear of "racist" the left realises it's chilling power.

I would say that immediately the word is used, this brings about the "Conditioned Emotional Response" comes in. Even bold conservatives run for cover.

I am not pretending to be a scholar but I do read a great deal. Again to put it simply the leftists have won. (For the time being anyway).

Shame on the "conservatives" who used this as an excuse (a very bad one) to not have to take sides against BLM and federal assaults on US citizens

Including many on FR that claim to be conservatives! They went right along with the leftist media, the RINO's and a lot of the so-called conservative media in bashing Mr. Bundy. Disgraceful!

Whoops! awkward sentence. Should read:

No, it was BUNDY stupidly shifting the focus - Harry Reid and his media servants were eager to take the new path.

Bundy had no reason to make the statement, even if it is pure, distilled truth, it was a stupid move, strategically. It was an obvious opportunity for the media to divert the uncomfortable attention Harry and the Fed Raiders were getting from the grassroots. It was coming to a head, tyrants were about to fall, and then.....????? A vain and foolish man opened his mouth about things totally unrelated to the fight at hand. As soon as he spoke those ill advised words, the battle was lost, the momentum was spent, and the fervor dissipated. A completely unnecessary, unsolicited diversion, but it played right into the hands of the enemy.

Other people will lose their property and livelihoods to an arrogant, rapacious government because Cliven Bundy just couldn’t deprive the world of his greater, profounder wisdom, not even the interests of his cause could stifle his urge to impart his pearls. Victory was agonizingly close...if only he had kept his mouth shut!

I don’t know why you all spend your time trashing commentators and supporters who pushed the fight to the tipping point, only to see this foolish man undermine the heavy lifting they had done on his behalf. Why would someone want to support such a politically unstable figurehead, one who cannot keep his eye on the ball long enough to complete the task at hand?

I am angry - because an important war was being fought, and the tide was on our side - and this silly man, Cliven Bundy, said, “oh wait! Here’s another thing we need to think about” and diffused the entire movement. Nobody is talking about property rights, federal overreach or state sovereignty, because everyone is distracted by accusing or defending Cliven Bundy of racism - while Harry and the Fed Raiders laugh all the way to the bank; and we have to reassemble, redirect and re-inspire the forces of good and truth. And it’s nobody’s fault but Cliven Bundy.

The man who should have been the nations first black POTUS. Many mocked him but he has had a grasp on what is wrong in this nation for several decades now. I used to watch his show “America’s Wake Up Call” every day. His depths of knowledge & wisdom far exceeds the depths of corruption of Obama in comparison of their character.

It is a long reach - the fight did not need that particular metaphor, everyone understood the clear spectacle of the BLM facing a private citizen with guns and violence. The momentum was clearly on his side - he didn’t need to try to stretch the argument to slavery and government handouts. I understand what he was trying to say, what I don’t understand is why he was trying to say it. In doing so he handed Harry and the Fed Raiders a huge gift.

Cliven mustn’t read much political history, ‘cuz he’s darn sure repeating it.

Absolutely right - but he, Cliven Bundy, has shifted the attention from his valid position to this racism, slavery, entitlement three-ring circus!

There are many who repeat history. Turning on ones fellows was practiced by the Vichy/collaborating French, The Jewish Kapos...Cheshire Conservatives on this issue.

Gutless frauds one and all.

The BLM issue did not evaporate. And if people are too much the ADD cowards to stick with the man and the issue, then we really don’t want them around anyway. All they do is aid Harry, Al, Jessie, Eric and Barry.

The problem is Cliven Bundy is a real person with real frustrations about how this country is run. Voicing his frustration is strictly prohibited. However, every gay person in the country can parade around in a leather thong to protest THEIR perceived oppression.

Except we all rallied to Bundy to fight a war on property rights against a tyrannical government....and he decided to have a frank discussion about race. WTH?

You don’t have to be a pundit or a political wizard to know enough to avoid the trap Bundy set for himself and promptly and voluntarily walked into. Heck, any rancher knows you don’t have to step in cow pies with your Sunday boots on!

That battle still exists. Are you still in it? then why are you trying to spread the lie of his racism being an issue and thus sabotaging it? He’s not a racist and you are aiding and abetting the real problem.
