Cliven Bundy Delenda Est [must be destroyed]
The American Thinker ^ | April 26, 2014 | Clarice Feldman

Posted on 04/27/2014 6:19:32 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

During the Punic Wars Cato and other notable Romans argued that Carthago Delenda Est, that is, Carthage must be destroyed. Substitute sympathetic ordinary Americans, like Cliven Bundy, Joe the Plumber, and the superbly talented Sarah Palin for Carthage, and you have the rallying cry of the Democrats and their media enablers who will use any pretext to demonize those who dare to challenge their power..........

........... This week’s victim was a nice rancher, Cliven Bundy, who got the sort of isolate and target Alinsky-style treatment we’ve seen others get. His opponents hurl a false charge against him, rely on doctored quotes from an unsophisticated speaker and people who should know better run away from the forum for fear their sparkling white togas might get spattered with mud. They still don’t get it. Wait to see what the person actually said, instead of taking the word of Media Matters or the New York Times. Think about why the person is being attacked and by whom before you hoof it away.........

He is no more a racist than is E.W. Jackson, Thomas Sowell, or honest observers like the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Government welfare programs have destroyed the black family with horrible consequences. And the blacks who support Bundy and protect him have defended him against these spurious charges of racism.

But Bundy must be tarred because this latest government action against him exposes the corruption of Majority Senate Leader Reid, brings into question the continued control of such vast stretches of the West by the federal government and shows horrified Americans the brutal tactics, lies, and objectives of the Bureau of Land Management. It’s race used as a “look, squirrel” distraction from the obvious. Don’t be like the white toga ninnies. Do not flee from the forum.

I tried running for the local school board to do just that, infiltrate. The people elected the local union leader who was also janitor for the district. I only lost by 50 votes.

I’ve said for years that until Conservatives start really fighting the left, we will never win.

Destroy marriages, ruin homes, obliterate life savings, make people unemployable, make children cry, etc.

As long as our side keeps looking for ‘another way,’ we’ll always be on the defensive, and lose more times than not.

“...or honest observers like the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan.”

Cough...

[queue creepy background music]

Clarice...I ate his liver with some Fava beans and a nice Chianti...

;-)

I do agree with her analysis that too many people who should have been side by side with these citizens out in Nevada were noticeably absent from the front line...

But, you get a bunch of Veterans who only want to visit their memorials in D.C. (right in their backyard, which were shut down by you know who) and you can’t keep them away from the cameras then...Much less be silent about that kind of outrage...

I would surmise my opinion that these temporary occupants of those offices have clearly defined their opportunistic courage, and defined their subtle cowardice at the same time...

I was criticized for not being right there with Cliven Bundy getting a photo op with me shaking his hand for daring to criticize the timely aghast commentary (after the dust had relatively settled in Nevada) of Rand Paul...

I should know better than criticize such a stalwart libertarian, masquerading as a conservative...

But see...When the problem is nationwide, why does anyone really have to go on those kinds of distant road trips when you have your own similar problems brewing right here in your own neighborhood???

Just remember, people like us do not go out looking for trouble anymore...It comes and finds you...Better to fight (resist) in your own hood, where you know it and the people better than the opposition, than the alternative...

I believe we have enough beans and bullets to handle most contingencies out there...

Just my opinion...

And yes, I did read the full text at the link...;-) thanks CW...

> Be very careful of whom you hate

Uh, where did I say I hate anybody?

All I said, IIRC, is that we need to have a long term strategy to overcome them, but that, unlike the indolent Left, most of us are too busy to be able to do that.

Good for you! Keep the pressure up, if you can, and run again.

But you probably don’t have as much time on your hands as the union janitor.

The news this weekend is filled with the story about L.A. Clippers owner Donald Sterling instructing his girlfriend not to bring black people to his games - a man who seems to possess many "uncomfortable" character flaws and holds obvious prejudices but because of his money and his access to power and fame, the L.A. Chapter of the NAACP was scheduled to give Sterling a lifetime achievement award. And this is NOT the 1st time that he's received a lifetime achievement award from the L.A. Chapter of the NAACP (amid controversy)- 2009:

Clippers owner Donald Sterling, accused of racism and embracing a “vision of a Southern plantation-type structure” in a lawsuit filed in February by Elgin Baylor, will be given a lifetime achievement award next week by the NAACP. . . .

Leon Jenkins, president of the Los Angeles branch of the civil rights organization, says of the much-maligned Sterling, “He has a unique history of giving to the children of L.A.,” revealing that the owner donates anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 tickets a game to youth groups for nearly every Clippers home game.

Noting that the NAACP had made plans to honor Sterling before Baylor filed suit, Jenkins says, “We can’t speak to the allegations, but what we do know is that for the most part [Sterling] has been very, very kind to the minority youth community.” NAACP explains why it is honoring Clippers owner Donald Sterling (May 2009)

And NO ONE knew he was a racist? Really? Please!

Yet Rancher Bundy is maligned by the Left and hung out to dry by the Right.

That Latin quote was not “must be destroyed”, but “has been destroyed” — an after-the-fact report from the forces which razed it. There was an earlier quote for the prior call to destroy Carthage: “Carthaginem esse delendam”, or “to be destroyed”, before it was attempted.

GB the new Messiah of whats happening now is a loon. Maybe he should backslide and snort a line of coke to clear his head.

I am about half convinced that Brother Beck is seriously a shill for the govt. He definitely has a hidden agenda and its not good for me and thee. I love the new stuff he’s adding to the bible. :-)

Cato didn't like foreigners. He used the phrase Carthago delenda est because he knew that a passive periphrastic construction with a gerundive would totally throw them off.

Bundy committed the “sin” of “old speak”.

His expressions are antiquated to say the least. Therefore he will be ground up and pounded down by the LSM. That was the idea, wasn’t it?

But the truth is different. Bundy is an antique, but he’s still an American, a Nevadan, a rancher who raises cattle for us to eat. The idea that he’s the devil incarnate is such drivel.

For that we needn’t look beyond Harry Reid and his ilk.

Bundyspeak is most inartful.

However it isn’t hard to follow his meanings.

Anyone of any race who becomes enslaved to the state lives a very sad life. Best I can tell, he made color part of the discussion because he was talking about slavery of blacks back then vs. state enslavement today. I’m supposed to get upset with him for saying Negro, when to this day the NAACP contains the words “colored people”??

Picking cotton is a metaphor for working. I heard Ben Ferguson attack him for saying “picking cotton”. Of course Ben isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer...

To have this many people in this great country so enslaved is the crime.

Cliven Bundy whose presumed debt to the government [was the one that] the federal government tried to run off his ranch and destroy with a frightening show of armed and brutal forces

Public service ad. Story continues below.

Think again.

Behind on your federal taxes? Expecting to use your usual route home? Think again.

You have the right to use other people’s property — namely, federal government's? Think again!

The guy on the white horse ain’t coming. This is one fight we are going to have to take on ourselves. I suppose it is only fair as our sloth is the reason we are in the shape we are. We have neglected our duty as the master of our own government and allowed the corrupt to grow and prosper.

Part of the reason is our own side not being serious. Believe me when I say “fight” I DO mean fight. As in kill or be killed. So when I say I am ready to fight for my 2nd A rights that is what I mean and I have no intention of martyrdom.

It occurs to me that many of our own don’t mean it when they use the word fight. I suspect when the NRA uses that word being they actually HAVE the word “rifle” in the name most members mean it. I have begun to suspect a number of voices one would consider conservative on radio and TV don’t really mean it. Sure, it sounds better than argue or discuss or even debate but those words really “lack punch”. Think about it. How far am I gonna get if I say “I am prepared to debate for my 2nd A Rights?”. Really? Who knows I could maybe even get really passionate about it. Really doesn’t grab one’s attention, does it. Not like “If you try to erode my 2nd A rights I will kill you.”. That gets their attention. Many of us have tried to “fight” Fedzilla for years but frankly she’s pretty slippery. Light wrestling smoke or pushing sand. Finally she has gotten careless enough to be pinned down. Finally she has become reckless enough to be tied to a place. That is when we learn that so many who we thought spoke for us really meant to say, “We need to debate this, we really need to get involved and take responsibility and insist. With passion.”

Excellent description of events. Thanks. I agree that it is as serious as you describe. It can only get worse "until a crisis shall have been reached and passed"

I am fond of quoting Lincoln from the 1850s. It's slightly modified for today.

If you could first know where you are and whither you are tending, you could better judge what to do and how to do it. You initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. You now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

The question today is either the opponents of statism will arrest the further spread of it and place it on course of ultimate extinction, or its advocates will push it forward till it shall become permanent.

Have you no tendency to the latter condition?

Let anyone who doubts carefully contemplate that now almost complete legal combination — piece of machinery, so to speak — compounded of the Republican Party hands-across-the-aisle doctrine and the dreadful actions among statism's chief architects.

You have a good tag line also. You might be interested in this that I heard on a talk show though I believe it originated from a book. The talk show was responding to the racial preferences vis-a-vis education, jobs, whatever. Most have it backward.

"You cannot have equality without quality."

I get 39 hits from google for searching for "no equality without quality" (includes dups). I was shocked. It is profound. But the popular opposite version (the "1984" "no quality without equality") gets About 10,500 results (0.26 seconds)

Thanks again.
