This is a metaphor for the state of America. The foundation is being undermined with little apparent damage, just a slow sinking. Then at some unpredictable point, it’s all going down. The Democrats are most to blame, but the Republicans has certainly done their share and have stopped nothing. At best an occassional attempt a slowing things down, but no U-turn.

Actually not quite. It was a landslide - or maybe a sinkhole if you consider the “edge” to be the retaining wall. The ground up to the wall had already given way, hence the cars leaning over the edge. THEN the wall gave way, AFTER land had already “slid” into it.

Unbelievable comment. Even others commenting on the site said “thank God nobody *tried to drive the cars things*”, trying to get them out or their belongings. The cars were already perched too precariously!

No, good thing they didn’t (actually, how do you know they didn’t call some towers? They don’t get there immediately you know). Turns out it was all unstable and the trucks would’ve been dragged down with them.

The police had already blocked off the street. Tow trucks couldn’t get in, even if they wanted to. GOVERNMENT was there to protect us and keep us from doing anything useful. For our protection, of course. (Mostly from attorneys)

Actually anyone who does black studies or women’s studies or whatever are the bottom of the barrel. Probably “film” and all that nonsense, too, though maybe they can find a related job.

They are already angry at CSX and the city.

I have to say I’m a little put off by people griping about “it’s all his fault”, always blaming something rather than just shrugging and saying “that’s life”.

The city is offering them hotel vouchers and so on, but “that isn’t good enough”. I know their lives have been greatly disrupted, but what about the fact that bad things happen? Don’t we recognize ACCIDENTS anymore? No, everything ties to someone to blame and sue. Why ruin other people’s lives and reputations over what is ultimately an accident?

Actually, I think it is mostly because we’re more used to genuine sinkholes here.

Or the fact that the thing opened up first between the road and the retaining wall, so it might look like a sinkhole. The wall apparently did not fall down until the ground had given way.

Looks like someone did not realize all that water had to go somewhere? Was that viaduct on the right not passing water?
Because in the vid you can see the water level is almost the same as the road when it caves. Either that or the rapid rate of the water flow eroded the right of way>

It’s a railroad tunnel, and there was not water filling it up.

My pleasure.

This is one of those cases where there wasn’t even any original text - just a ripped off video.
