Military readiness?
me

Posted on 05/02/2014 7:51:16 AM PDT by rey

I spoke with an acquaintance in the Marine Corps yesterday. He said they hadn't even blanks for field training exercises, that they live fire only to qualify. Crew served weapons hardly ever fire. On a visit to Mirimar he said the vast majority of pilots hardly fly at all and that the majority of squadrons haven't the flight hours required to legally fly let alone be flight/combat ready. Does anyone live near a major air field have comment on the number of flights they see? I noticed that Travis flight numbers seem low, but I only occasionally drive by.

Does anyone have links to news sources on this, particularly from major news outlets? How about Navy/Marine Corps times? Is anyone aware of military news source stories?

It seems to me to be worse than pre WWII levels of readiness.

The DoD is too busy getting ready for Gay Pride Month.

I live near MacDill AFB in Tampa. I can tell you there’s plenty of brass going in and out, but we’re ground zero for CENTCOM here.

The number of touch-and-gos is drastically lower than it used to be. We used to see warplanes in the sky quite a bit during the Bush years. It’s just not that way anymore.

Oh, and speaking of Marines, a good friend of mine just got back from Afghanistan, and he’s mentioned something to the effect that you’re referencing here, specifically that many brigades in the theater are understaffed and underequipped.

He’s very happy that he won’t be going out of the States for at least 9 months.

I live near a Navy/Marine helicopter training field. It is rare to see or hear helicopters now.

McEntire and Shaw are in my area and I used to see and hear a lot but almost nothing now.

A few weeks ago, the national guard Apaches were buzzing around a lot, now nothing. I guess they are being prepped to get hauled away.

I see a LOT of military movement these days! Why, the other day, I saw a convoy of DHS MRAPS, and the BLM was convoying their Hummvees, the ones that carry the drones to be used against civilians.

We have a lot of military choppers out in our area doing runs over the Gulf of Mexico. I see at least a dozen a week go to or from MacDill.

I am 4 miles from Travis. I saw a C-5 fly by a few days ago, but not much else. I don’t know if the pilots are getting the flight time they need. I had a chance to fly the C-5 simulator once, and I am sure the simulators are getting a work out, but it is not the same. The USAF Thunderbirds arrived yesterday, and put on a short show before landing, and that is what got my attention, when I heard real jet engines for a change.

Thanks for posting this.

A serious reduction of live fire training, Naval exercises and training flights for the Air Force and Naval Air was pre planned by the anti Americans in the outhouse.

We have a friend who lives near Travis, and he said that training missions like touch and go have stopped since the first of the year. The only flights he sees or hears are flights heading west and over the Pacific. Those flights are down to a couple per week.

My tagline summarizes what Herr Obama is doing to our military.

Of course not, and it's by design...

Zero and his handlers (foreign and domestic) want our military gutted and impotent, while building up their internal security forces (DHS, ICE, Postal Service, BLM, ETC.) patterned after the Nazi Brown shirts.

That and to fire or blackmail/force resign the generals who are not compliant with their agendas, and replacing them with pussified Yes-men that won't decline the order to fire on US citizens.

The only reason the Bundy-protecting militia wasn't massacred (because the BLM had the firepower to kill everyone there) was the PR hit would be too early for their agenda. These people want to hit at night, breaking down doors and hauling people out of their beds in the wee hours of the morning...

Speculation, or prediction? You look at what is happening and you decide...

Then we will do the same to them and their families, starting with the supervisors.

Yes, I live very near Vandenberg Air Force Base, and keep an exact record of the aircraft I observe (with my binoculars) landing and taking off. Every evening, I post my daily observations on the Internet:

I live near Lejeune and birds are still flying. don’t know about fighters as they are north of here (but would love a flyby). Do know that field training is way down in scope. Let me tell you, if I was the parent of a new Marine I would be in panic mode. I am a Vietnam Gold Star sister and know that without proper training and equipment, (I always get sick when I think about a high school graduate going to war without training), we lose our loved ones.

Nash equilibrium strategists working on national security issues are in need of suicide watch.

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, and just as well-funded."

Between beefing up everything from BATFE to BLM forces and weakening our increasingly gay military, Obama is almost ready to announce "mission accomplished".

They use the time for the mandatory sexual assault training. It used to be for supervisors only now every one has to go thru the training even DOD civilians. The mission is secondary. According to the chief of staff that is the military’s #1 priority, preventing sexual assault.

Can’t really comment on the mission as we have a unique one that’s not affected by all the hoopla.
