Bill to allow law licenses for non-citizens passes
washington times ^ | may 2, 2014

The Florida Supreme Court will be able to grant law licenses to non-citizens under a bill that’s going to Gov. Rick Scott.

The Senate voted 26-7 for the bill on Friday.

The Supreme Court ruled in March that people in the country illegally can’t be issued law licenses. The case involved Jose Godinez-Samperio, who was seeking his license after passing the bar in 2011. Godinez-Samperio came to the United States with his parents on a tourist visa when he was 9, and they remained in the country after it expired.

While a bunch of folks will jump in and go negative on this news item....I’d kindly point out that each state runs its own lawyer mechanism and the license/test only states that the guy has sufficient knowledge to conduct himself in a state court and advertise himself as a lawyer. Citizenship was never hinged or geared to this feature of the American justice system.

Any idiot can study enough and pass a state bar exam. It doesn’t mean they are that qualified or capable. And what may come out of this little change? In twenty years....we might have ten thousand Chinese lawyers in the US...practicing law and successfully challenging the American-citizen county or state or federal prosecutors because of their lack of knowledge. A bit of enthusiasm and effort put into studying real American law....might come back to bite the system currently in place.

I’d call this “corruption”, but corrupt people try to hide their crimes.

What do you call it when lawbreakers OPENLY celebrate and win praise from law enforcement?

There are legitimate reasons for a foreign national lawfully in the US to want a law license; e.g., an employee of a foreign firm that does business in the US. The key word there, though, is “lawfully.”

This bill passed 26-7?

I had no idea mental retardation was at such high levels in the sunshine state.

Maybe it’s the sunshine.

In Florida, we elected a Republican governor and we have a Republican majority in the Senate and the House now. You would think we could make some progress and undo everything that the Democrats did during their time in these offices. BUT NOOOOOOOOO! They just passed a law to give illegals in-state college tuition. Now this $hit. What is next Florida Republicans? Why don’t you just go ahead and make Sharia law the standard in Florida. Dumbasses!

“This bill passed 26-7? I had no idea mental retardation was at such high levels in the sunshine state.”

You might understand it more easily when you see that 1) neither party wants to get rid of illegals; they are replacing Americans in housing, classrooms, etc., and 2) to all levels of government they are a source of fees (for auto insurance companies as well). Once banks let them open accounts (you wouldn’t imagine what they put Americans through for that after the Patriot Act passed), it was very clear that every effort would be made to accommodate the invaders so this country of 300 million could compete with two Asian powerhouses of 1 billion+ each in a global consumer-based economy...

To sum up your second paragraph another way, this is a particularly insidious lever to hand over to those who would seek to upset a core component, the law, of American culture. Am I being too negative here????

Might not illegal lawyers eventually infuse our law with foreign concepts ?

I just want to know what sort of oath he’ll be taking. “I promise to uphold the law except where it applies to myself...” or something along those lines?

To even get through law school, and presumably work while in college, these illegals would also be using someone else’s Social Security Number. Another level of lawbreaking involving dishonesty.

This bill, and other pro-illegal bills, were ram-rodded through the Florida legislature by REPUBLICANS.

Working behind the scenes, twisting arms and pressuring republicans to approve of the pro-illegal legislation was former Florida governor Jeb Bush.

Another slippery slope.

Next step - illegal alien lawyers become judges.

Wait five or ten years when we will have resentful illegals from everywhere, including sharia-practicing muslims from the mideast practicing law and sitting on the bench.

I called my rep on this last week and told her not to vote for it. I also posted this under the State and urged anyone who could to call their reps on it. This was done so stealthy that I fear there's probably a push on this all across the Country. There's a group behind this, I'm as sure of it as I'm disgusted by it.

As long as these illegal lawyers defending illegals for immigration follow Mexicos immigration laws which is 100 times stricter than the US, the maybe it is OK. Put all immigration courts right at the border so the illegals can be perp walked back across after court.
