LA Mayor: Donald Sterling Will Put Up 'Long Fight' To Keep Clippers
The Jewish Daily Forward / Reuters ^ | May 4, 2014

It's Jew Vs. Jew as Battle Over Team Heats Up.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said on Sunday he expects Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling to put up a “long, protracted fight” to retain ownership of the team after being banned for life from the National Basketball Association because of racial comments.

Garcetti, appearing on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” program, was asked about a potential boycott of Clippers games if Sterling balks and said, “I would certainly keep that arrow in my quiver.”

Last week NBA Commissioner Adam Silver fined Sterling $2.5 million and imposed a lifetime ban after the revelation of taped conversations in which he told his friend, V. Stiviano, that he did not want her to bring black people to Clippers games or pose for pictures with them.

The NBA Board of Governors is expected to meet within the next two weeks to vote on forcing a sale of the team.

Sterling, who built a fortune estimated at $1.9 billion through Los Angeles-area real estate holdings, bought the Clippers for $12 million in 1981 and the franchise now is valued at $430 million by Forbes magazine....

Tell me, would you feel fine if EVERYTHING you’ve said in private in the past was broadcast to the world?

I don't like it, but isn't that the world we live in? Very soon people will likely be fired because they post on sites like this one. I don't like it, but the question is how can we stop it?

National divorce is the only thing I can think of. Anyone else have any ideas?

Conservatives used to say there is a penalty for being stupid. Now the government should protect people from their stupid actions? I don’t know if Sterling knew he was being recorded, but I am not sure he didn’t, because his general actions suggest he probably would have done something like that. But it was pretty clear, that even a total idiot would have known she was baiting him into saying stupid stuff, and he obliged her very well. I am not totally clear about what their relationship was, but this guy was asking for trouble in a major way. And he got it. And it doesn’t even seem like he cares. He wanted it, he got it. Sorry.

You believe that?

Look in the stands next season and see how many white faces you see.

This is but a Pyrrhic victory in the lefts class and race war.

Free markets mean I can have agreements with my partners that protect us from one of the partners damaging the business.

Don't expect to see many Jews at games anymore either.

Ever.

You mean states succession? It won’t happen and it wouldn’t work anyway.

“Mr. Sterling was taped without his knowledge, which is, I believe, a felony in California...”

...probably unenforceable in the 21st century.

“it was almost certainly done at the behest of Magic Johnson, who has been rebuffed in the past by Mr. Sterling in his attempts to buy the team so he almost certainly hatched a plot with the mistress to catch Sterling in a racist rant.”

This is conjecture, but worth looking into and any evidence of this should be taken seriously.

I think the NBA will make him a very profitable offer.

How much is Sterling worth? One billion or two, maybe more?

This is about ego, not profits

The Clippers are owned by the Sterling Trust, Sterling, his wife and two children. The NBA can huff and puff all they want, Magic can design new Clipper uniforms and the PC crowd can wail until they raise the ocean level by a foot, that trust was set up to protect that asset, the Clippers and pass it down to the children with minimal tax impact.

Look he is 80 and has prostrate cancer, do you think he became a multi billionaire by rolling over to the guy across the table? He and his trust will win this battle no matter how long it takes.

Don't you just love a great cat fight?

Not when it's used to get Democrats elected in 2014.

I thinks it's a safe bet that the NBA just lost about 90% of it's white paying customers.

You don't honestly believe that do you? I bet they don't lose 1% of white and/or Jewish customers.

“diversity traning”=Communist re-education camps of old.

We’re seeing the emergence of national socialism;it’s scary.

So in the Obama era, only “crimes” that go against the culture are enforceable? Got it.

So the politically correct crowd at the NBA had their moment in the sun. Oh, how they thrusted their chests and radiated in the glow of the adulation cast their way as they banned this billionaire buffoon from the NBA for life and "fined" him a couple million dollars (which is lunch money for this guy).

Now they are going to have to defend their rash actions in a court of law against a man with virtually unlimited cash and resources.

Will be interesting to watch how this turns out. Do we continue our path to being a banana republic in which we seize property from people who say things we don't like? Or is this where we draw the line. We shall see.

“So in the Obama era, only “crimes” that go against the culture are enforceable? Got it.”

This has nothing to do with Obama. The tide has been against these laws for 25+ years.

That’s why partnership agreements have a shotgun clause.

If an owner tries to buy out Sterling for $100 million, Sterling should have the right to keep his team and buy out the other guy for $100 million

Nothing to do with the above at all, whatsoever. It’s this simple: someone who runs a Burger King gives the whopper to one of their barely legal age employees (and this becomes public knowledge, how that happens is unimportant). Next day: Burger comes in and takes the keys, legally. The stockholders and other franchisees would not have it any other way.

Idiots have run Pro sports teams for many years.
Who ran the NY Yankees in the 70’s 0’s and 90’s
The owners of the original six hockey teams were pricks who abused their players

You should mind your own business and stop policing how Sterling, and others, live their lives.

If you do not like Sterling, boycott his services, products and brands
