Pelosi: New Benghazi inquiry should be split evenly among Dems, GOP
Washington Post ^ | May 6, 2014 | WESLEY LOWERY

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday morning that the new committee to investigate the 2012 terror attack in Benghazi being commissioned by the House GOP leadership must include an even split of Democrats and Republicans in order to be fair.

“If this review is to be fair, it must be truly bipartisan. The panel should be equally divided between Democrats and Republicans as is done on the House Ethics Committee," Pelosi said in a statement. "It should require that witnesses are called and interviewed, subpoenas are issued, and information is shared on a bipartisan basis. Only then could it be fair.”

Aides to Boehner were quick to note on Tuesday morning that previous select committees -- including a 2007 committee on climate change commissioned under Pelosi's House leadership -- have included uneven majority-minority party membership.

It is NOT a debate, Pelosi....Only in a debate do you have an equal balance of pros and cons...

They’re going to whine no matter what. It’s the nature of the beast.

But unless there is a decisive GOP majority on the committee, it will get so bogged down in Dem whining that no progress will be made whatsoever.

I’m sure they will put their worst CBC screamers on the committee. Everything now can be derailed with the claim of “racism,” and simply the fact that Obama is half-African (not even “African American!”) is enough to protect him from any scrutiny.

Republicans ALWAYS fall for the "fairness" argument, even when they know it was unfairly biased against them when they were in the minority.

It's just their nature to get rolled that way.

And the Sharon Tate murder jury should have been evenly split between the satanists & the Christians.

Can Pelosi say anything more that is equally stupid???

She seems to be tutored by Sheila Jackson Lee.

” No Republican input on bills, “deeming” legislation passed and cheering on recess appointments “

I think we should have the committee full of Republicans, and then “deem” half of them to be Democrats...

Here’s another FLASHBACK.

A 4-second video from Aug. 11, 2011 with Obama saying “The only people who don’t want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide”. I hope Gowdy is aware of that money quote. In fact I’d like to see the pubbies use or refer to that clip in the inquiry. I wonder if anyone on FOX is aware of it.

I think you're right for the most part. But, I have a feeling that if they allow some balance Gowdy will be able to bring some dems to their responsible (if I can use that word with dems) senses.

I recently saw a forensic murder documentary about a crime committed in the late 90s and the lead prosecutor was Trey Gowdy. The interviews with him were almost 20 years old but it was easy to see the rigid understanding of the law and persuasive talents he has always had.
