Secretary of State John Kerry has been subpoenaed to testify on Benghazi on May 21st. However, in the daily State Department press briefing on Monday, deputy spokesperson Marie Harf said that Kerry will be out of the country on that day and won’t comply with the subpoena to testify on that particular date. Harf said that Kerry “has been made aware” of the subpoena, but still plans to be out of the country and in Mexico on the 21st. She said the State Department was “surprised” that Darrell Issa skipped over offering an invitation and went straight to issuing a

Do the same thing for Kerry as everyone else who does not comply with a subpoena serve his attorney, then...swear out a warrant for his arrest in DC and his home state, and when he steps back onto US soil, arrest him, period. The bail should be $1 million dollars because he went to Mexico and he is a flight risk!

Just yesterday they were insulted by the subpoena and said that they should have just asked nicely and he would have come.

And just why should he? There is no penalty for high ranking Washingtonians for ignoring subpoenas, lying to congress, withholding information and other infractions that would send you and me to jail. They are now above the law.

YES and most people who are no shows get a warrant sworn out for their arrest....how is Kerry any different. And I would serve his attorney with a subpoena that Kerry must show up, and when he doesn’t...well don’t step foot back in your home state or DC because you will be arrested, then set bail at $1 million dollars because he went to Mexico, and is a flight risk!

Treating him “like everyone else” would involve going to his house with several SWAT teams, dogs, snipers and helicopters, shooting and stealing his cattle, tackling and tazing his pregnant relatives and friends, digging up his irrigation systems and threatening to shoot him. That is how people outside the powerful elite get treated.

It was stupid of Issa to issue a subpoena and not first make an attempt to schedule an appointment with his office. It is common courtesy whether or not it is deserved or warranted. Plus when he issued the subpoena Issa could say he was doing it because he was unable to reach an agreement for Kerry to testify.

All Issa accomplishes by acting like a bully is playing into the Democrat talking points. For some reason the GOP has no sense of how to play the public relations game. Certainly the RNC should have enough money to put an outstanding public relations person on retainer. In a world of media soundbites form often matters as much or more than substance.

Quite frankly, now that Boehner is finally appointing a special committee it makes no sense for Issa to be throwing around subpoena’s on Benghazi. The Republicans do look foolish having 5 committees investigating the same topic. Roll the separate investigations into one, hire a good PR person to work with Gowdy, and get moving.

Mr. Ed will be out of the country, in Mesheeco.
Subpoenas aren’t passed out like party favors.
There is usually a good reason why the appearance of an individual is required at a hearing, otherwise the subpoena wouldn’t issue.
And when someone subpoenaed says, “So sorry, can’t do it. Not gonna do it.” usually more is required than, “I anticipate that’s going to be a `bad hair’ day for me.”
or, “I’ll be in Acapulco watching the cliff divers.”
So, why the long face, Ed—what’s so important in Mexico?

The Democrats seem to be betting on their ability to paint any inquiry as a dysfunctional witch hunt based in racism and highly partisan politics. I guess that’s their only hope to hold on in November.

Absolutely...I think he should be treated like everyone else.

In fact there is a precedence in this case from 2008, when Bush was ordered to comply with a subpoena:
