Anti-fluoridation quacks should know there’s no debate
The Dallas Morning News ^ | 05-02-2014 | Jacquielynn Floyd

An angry reader — one of many — is impatiently waiting for me to explain myself after an earlier column in which I characterized anti-fluoride activists as delusional cranks.

“You are promoting the mass medication of your community,” she wrote. “It makes absolutely no sense to put this hazardous waste into our drinking water. Why are you pushing for this insane practice? I look forward to your response.”

I have a response, but she won’t like it: I am at an honest loss as to how to respond to crazy talk. If someone wants to believe flying saucers are beaming gamma rays into his flower beds, he is self-evidently resistant to logic. What are you supposed to say?

Anti-fluoridation quackery isn’t the comical Eisenhower-era anachronism you might suspect. It’s alive and well right here in Dallas, where activists are trying to persuade members of the Dallas City Council to end five decades of routine water fluoridation. Disturbingly, at least a few council members seem to be listening.

As kids we had good teeth. There was natural fluoride in the well water we drank. At 67, I still have my own teeth, my dad died with perfect teeth, my wife has good teeth and my daughters have good teeth. All from well water.

Funny being anti-fluoride used to be a considered a right wing cause but it’s become a left-wing cause in recent years

Sodium fluoride used to be used as the active ingredient in some insecticides. It works as a pesticide in toothpaste to kill bacteria.

When you tent a house, the poisonous neurotoxin they spouse is sodium fluoride.

We filter out fluoride. Alumina is the filter media

plus there is the issue of it being “medicine” and how are they supposed to accurately control the dosages?

How about BOTTLING plants?

You know; Coke® and other soft drinks.

Do THEY use city water to make their product?

Well, I don't suppose fluoridation is as bad as that, but it is not pure driven snow.

Everything has side effects.

Just look how BAD dihydrogen monoxide is for you!

The IRON in my water causes MUCH more grief than the trace amounts of fluoride.

I spend considerable amounts of money buying a chemical (in bulk quantities) that is formed from two of the most dangerous chemicals known to man (chlorine and sodium) to remove this from my water.

Please don't insinuate something I never said. That's a conversation stopper.

There's a lot of that going on around here. People putting words in other people's mouths and then castigating them for it.

Better to be castigated than... Galatians 5:12
