Chamber of Commerce gives ultimatum to GOP (immigration)
politico.com ^ | 5/12/14 | Kevin Robillard

Tom Donohue, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said the GOP shouldn’t even field a presidential candidate in 2016 unless Congress passes immigration reform this year.

“If the Republicans don’t do it, they shouldn’t bother to run a candidate in 2016,” Donohue joked at an event on infrastructure investment in D.C. “Think about that. Think about who the voters are. I just did that to get everybody’s attention.”

Republicans have focused on immigration reform as a way to woo Hispanic voters, who have increasingly drifted to Democrats over the past two election cycles. Growing Hispanic populations in Nevada, Texas and elsewhere could make those states more amenable to Democrats in the future.

Donohue, whose group has spent months pushing House Republicans to support immigration reform, was speaking about what he thought a dysfunctional Congress could still get done in 2014.

“You think Congress can get immigration reform done this year, in an election year?” moderator Eamon Javers asked Donohue.

“Yes, yes,” Donohue replied.

National Association of Manufacturers President Jay Timmons said he also thought immigration reform could pass this year, perhaps in a lame-duck session.

“This is a unified position of the business community,” Timmons said.

Reform backers have focused on the weeks before the August recess as a time when the House could move on immigration reform after a bipartisan bill passed the Senate last year.

The idiots down at the Chamber of Commerce think that they’re about to get a flood of cheap labor. I’ve got some bad news for those bozos. Once the illegals are given their amnesty welcome basket with the little Mexican flag, a voter registration form and a couple of complimentary EBT cards, the next thing they will be required to do is join the SEIU. LOL! Welcome to the Land of the Big Pinata!

The fix is in, amnesty will come, Boner and his colleagues pockets will be well lined for retirement, the GOP will become a distant memory and what’s left of US sovereignty will be established in stone as a sick joke.

People need to get over the idea that voting and contacting your representative makes a difference that part of the process died 15 yrs. ago, it just needs to be buried and the People start considering other ways to petition our long and growing list of grievances with those tyrannical, well bribed and bought off fools in Washington DC.

The current US government has all the creditability of the old German DDR and old Soviet Union. It is corrupt and rotten to the core. I believe nothing that comes out of it at any level:president/king, congress, military or bureaucracy, they all lie.

Recently informed a small group of Chamber members what their organization has been up to in DC. They were appalled. I know at least one who formally quit.

Most people aren’t aware of what they are a part of.

“The corporatists don’t give a damn. It’s all about money.”

Don’t forget about the farmers. Really, it is them that the Chamber is doing this for. Anyone who questions this fact does not live in a farming community.

I believes the majority of immigration problems would be solved with passage of these bills.

1. End chain migration
2. mandatory E-Verify
3. End Visa lottery
4. End Birthright Citizenship
5. Interior Enforcement

We do not need immigration reform or amnesty.

You can spot the chamber maidens (Chamber backed candidates) by their avoidance of the words immigration and border in their campaign literature.

This is why we must lobby big business directly. We must let them know what We the People will do, boycott, demonstrations, etc. if they continue on this trajectory.

I live in a farming community, no immigrant workers here.

Could it just be a West coast thing?

“Crony Capitalists want cheap labor.”

They also want tens of millions of new consumers, even if they get their spending money from Americans trying to pay their bills. With unemployment as high as it is, and the economy asa sluggish as it is, these illegal invaders are now prized as re-distributors of the wealth of those still working. In my area the illegals are needed to keep housing and classrooms occupied.

The CofC is only conservative when It comes to their pocket book. If that is the way they are going to be then obviously the upper 1/2 of 1% and the big companies are clearly not paying enough taxes. Obviously the less they pay the more they are supporters of big government. I have been stabbed in the back to many times by these establishment corporate interests. it is now time to make them pay, through their pocket books which is the only way you can get to them. You are either a part of the problem or you are a part of the solution. If you are going to back this attempt by the left to create a permanent majority and deliberatly down grade the traditional middle class then you need to pay. Sell out Mister you shell out.

Here in NJ our rural areas have plenty of illegals; it may be a question of available freebies.

Of course we aren’t in charge. From the Kochs to Soros and beyond. The huge Corps and their ilk are here to crush Freedom, not save it. Why do you think that we have lost the “gay marriage” war? It makes them money. Why do you think there is the crack down on the Tea Party? We love our freedom more than their money.

Funny, the opposite is true concerning the CoC contention.

Certain and eternal death for the GOP if they pass ANYTHING that can be even remotely interpreted as allowing Illegals to stay in the US...in the law.

Now, we have a lot of GOP politicians out there they loudly proclaim they would NEVER vote for anything resembling Amnesty. It's just that they have dumbed down Amnesty to "Citizenship".

Don't believe those liars. They would legalize those here illegally...and that includes, yes, Ted Cruz.

We need a GOP candidate that is absolutely opposed, loudly and firmly, to any legal status for those here illegally.

US Chamber of Criminals.

What we need is a GOP candidate with the cojones to state that he will indict the corporate officers of all firms who have been hiring illegal aliens on a regular basis or who have abused the H1B visa program.

What we need is a law that strips such people of both their assets and their citizenship so they can be deported along with their illegal alien buddies.

Decent article describing what happened in GA when we passed a good immigration bill back in 2012. We very quickly stopped enforcing it on farms. Everything is back to “normal” now:
