Two of the most prominent CEOs that have been lobbying Congress for immigration reform and amnesty legislation indicated on Monday this Congress's final act could be passing sweeping amnesty legislation in the lame-duck session.
At a panel on the economy and infrastructure investment at the Newseum on Monday, Jay Timmons, the CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), which has lobbied extensively for amnesty legislation, and Tom Donohue, the CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, agreed that amnesty legislation could pass even after the November elections despite the August deadline that is being floated.
"I think it'll happen in the lame-duck session as the final piece of legislation," Timmons said.
Donohue, after saying that immigration reform was "doable" this year, said, "I think that too." He then said that "would be the fallback position" even as he pressures Congress to pass legislation in the next three months that the Congressional Budget Office determined would lower the wages of American workers.
Even though an Eagle Forum report documented how mass immigration may doom a conservative Republican Party and a plurality of voters have indicated in two national polls that they would be "less likely" to vote for candidates who support amnesty, Donohue half-joked that Republicans were guaranteed to lose the White House again in 2016 if they don't pass amnesty.
If the Republicans dont do it, they shouldnt bother to run a candidate in 2016, Donohue said. "Think about who the voters are. I just did that to get everybodys attention.

This is complete conjecture. A statement with absolutely no supporting evidence or empirical data. A scare tactic designed to sway the wimpy, reactionary GOP-e.
If the GOP-e does this in the lame duck then, yes, they can kiss 2016 GOOD BYE! Because I and others will not reward these cowardly traitors for this despicable act of treason.
Once 20-35 million illegals aliens are Registered and allowed to Remain in place, it’s over.
Chain migration at the six, twelve, and eighteen year intervals, will swamp this nation.
We really are watching the fall of the United States here.
The Democrats will have full control, and by the time they’re done, the old U. S. S. R. will look like the promised land.
The end.
And I will actively encourage everyone I know to do the same.
Such an act will be the last act of these traitors, their party will pass into history.
They are calling for the destruction of America
Perfect. The single most significant issue most negatively effecting the immediate and long term future of the nation and will alter its character forever is going to be slipped through at the very end of a lame duck congress.
If that is how they intend to push it through, then it means they KNOW it is the wrong thing to do.
Reaching an incorrect conclusion after honest analysis and thought is one thing.
Intentionally setting out to do something one KNOWS is wrong is evil.
If it goes through forget 2016, and 2018 and 2020...
War on poverty, war on drugs... how about a war on illegal immigration.
It may indeed be the “last act” of these politicians.
Once the invasion is authorized, resistance may very well increase proportionately.
Ah, what obvious plan that should have been foreseen earlier:
1. Slow play amnesty for the next few months, deny to our faces that they plan on doing this, in order to ensure a solid conservative base turnout in November.
2. Second week in November, unveil amnesty and plunge the knife yet again into the backs of conservatives.
3. People having short memories, GOP leftists will conclude that conservatives have nowhere else to go in 2016 and will come back to the reservation.
So you will vote FOR republicans that push this amnesty up our collective rear end?
Who said I would do that?
WRONG, Donohue. You've got it exactly backwards. The GOP will be wiped from the face of the political map if they sneak amnesty through the way Pelosi did ObamaCare - through sleight of hand, dark of night, damn the voters, we want this anyway corruption.
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."
If the GOP is complicit in this amnesty fiasco, either by taking up the Senate bill or through some piecemeal slight of hand with a series of House bills such as we hear are being cooked up of late, or as riders on other necessary legislation, the GOP will cease to exist. It will not survive through the 2016 elections. The people will shun the over-tanned, glad-handing, backslapping quislings and look elsewhere for leaders who actually have the spine for the fight. Make no mistake - to me and to many, many others, amnesty is the GOP's Rubicon. Cross it at your electoral peril.
The time to organize is NOW.
Well, I will reward them in 2016. - Novemberslady
Given the *WILL NOT* reward mention in the initial poster's point, and the *WILL* reward language in your post, it appeared to me you were stating that you would vote FOR the Rs that push amnesty. I asked the question because I found the comment confusing.
By changing the language from *WILL NOT* to *WILL*, your post appears to express an opposite intent of Obadiah's original post.
