A few weeks ago, I noted in this space that the anti-Tea Party Main Street Partnership is openly appealing to conservative paranoia in a high-profile Idaho race.
The super PAC, run by former Rep. Steve LaTourette, R-Ohio, ran an ad hinting that the challenger to Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson is being backed by a liberal, pro-Nancy Pelosi group from outside Idaho - namely, the uber-conservative Club for Growth.
At the time, I wrote that Main Street might win a couple of races with this dishonest approach – and in fact Simpson will likely win on Tuesday. But to whatever extent this tactic succeeds, it only reinforces the very distrust that has turned primary voters against the “Main Street” model of Republican.
The same thing is now happening in Michigan - except it isn't a super PAC, but actual Republican lawmakers who are launching conservative-sounding attacks against a colleague for holding a principled conservative position.
Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., recently called Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., “al Qaeda's best friend in the Congress.” House Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers, who hails from two districts over, said Amash “votes more with the Democrats than with the Republicans.” Politifact deemed Rogers' assertion to be “false,” finding that Amash “has never voted with his party less than 85 percent of the time in a given year.” (Amash argues that Rogers himself has voted more often with House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., which is true.)
These attacks coincide with a well-funded establishment effort to unseat Amash in the Michigan Republican primary this August – an effort to which Rogers, who is retiring, has contributed $5,000.

This Main Street Partnership is the lowest of lows. We need to tell the party we sit home in November for ANYONE who takes a dollar from these detestable losers.
Nothing is more damaging to the small businesses which are the major job creators than cronyism. The cronies use government to regulate the little competitor out of existence while taking taxpayer money at no risk to themselves.
This incestuous corporate-government relationship must stop.
Can you imagine how many jobs we would have if we didn't have the gray fist of the state keeping down businesses?
The smoking ban in Michigan bars is a perfect example of the regulations for thee but not for me of cronyism.
Michigan casinos lobbied heavily for the law but had a built in loophole by virtue of size. Establishments that have more than 10,000 sq feet of floor space can set aside areas for smoking. Most bars probably average less floor space than the average house.

Exactly one of the reasons that small business is going the way of the dodo.
Cronies artificially propped up by taxpayers are unfair competition for honest businessmen who don’t get taxpayer money to stay in business.
In the A123 battery debacle, the company got millions in both federal and state tax dollars and paid people to literally sit in the break room for nearly 2 years.
These clowns need to realize that sooner or later, there will be a popular uprising and Crony Capitalism WILL come to an end.
Either WE can stage it and use Constitutional processes and the rule of law to return to our founding principles, OR
The hard-left can do it by seizing all their assets and marching these people into FedEx Field for televised public executions.
One way or the other, it WILL happen.

Part of the problem is “teaparty†and “conservative†is being co-oped by rinos. We need ONE true blue conservative group that we can go to to know who is the real conservative candidates are. I know I tried several places asking for name of real tea party candidates only to have them refer me to voter.com website which takes hours to sift through and half the questions weren’t answered. I’m very prolife so their endorsements help somewhat. Nebraska RTL endorsed democrat Ben Nelson for years, even when he conveniently skipped important prolife votes, which helped democrats. We need names of org we can trust. Conservatives would win more if we were more organized. The only reason many here voted for Ricketts was because of Ted Cruz and Sarah’s endorsements. He was one of many who said the same thing. What about other candidates? Everyone drops “teaparty” in their ads. As I said, which teaparty? When we have 5 or 6 candidates who all answer the questions the same, and we don’t know who do believe, what do we do? FR helps A lot but we get rinos here that claim to be conservative too. I wish FR could, would find someone they trust to organize conservative voter guide for each state. Those local legislators/AGs can turn a red state purple if it’s not watched. Maybe we have something like that and I don’t know it. When you have to vote for candidates who don’t tell their party or answer questions, I just don’t vote for anyone. Anyone have my problem?

It is a problem. And unfortunately, I don’t think there’s an answer. I’ve been depending on the Senate Conservatives Fund, FreedomWorks, Madison Project, Sarah Palin and Ted Cruz. And I’ve depended on who NOT to support by the endorsements of Mitch McConnell, Jeb Bush, etc.
That’s why I’ve been posting stories for the last year on various candidates. So we can all get a general consensus on who we should be supporting and who we should not be supporting.
Cruz, Palin, SCF, Madison, Freedomworks, etc., have certainly pushed more conservative candidates to the top, and have thwarted more established candidates in the last few cycles.
We’re learning and have been coming together here and there. But there are “conservative” interlopers like Mike Huckabee who endorse candidates to split the conservative vote. It’ll take time.
Its not only a problem, its by design. Naturally, the uniparty uses obfuscation and confusion to retain power. We tend to look down our noses at the low information voter, but realistically how can any of us who have jobs and families and interests other than politics do sufficient due diligence?
Here where I live in VA, I have the opportunity (or perhaps its the curse) of voting for no fewer than 12 political offices. How am I realistically supposed to keep up with the nuances of each of those offices and the candidates running for them? Truth is I really can’t.
The uniparty relies upon people not being able to draw those distinctions to retain power by popularizing easy labels like “republican” or “democrat” that really mean nothing.
Except there's one problem here. As bad as McQueeg is, as soon as he made a joke about the Iranian dictator, Amash stepped up to defend the dictator's honor. There's something VERY wrong with Justin Amash and it's why he needs to go.
