How Conservatives Can Defeat the Media
American Thinker ^ | May 22, 2014 | By J.R. Dunn

Posted on 05/22/2014 1:32:17 PM PDT by kingattax

One unavoidable truth that must be faced regarding the media and 2014 is this: the American media has the conservatives’ number. They know exactly where the blind spots are, which are the most sensitive points, and how to do the most damage. And they have absolutely no compunction about taking advantage of it.

The relationship between conservatives and the media recalls the old skit by Monty Python concerning “the advantages of not being seen.” A plummy voice calls out, “Will Christine please stand up?” Christine rises from behind a bush, there’s an explosion, and down again she goes. “Will Todd stand up?” Here’s Todd, here’s the explosion, no more Todd. “Cliven, please…”

-snip-

Sensing easy prey in people who so avidly cooperate in their own destruction, the media has relentlessly expanded its strategy for portraying conservatives as gibbering idiots for whom no sane voter would press the lever.

For decades the media has collaborated with Democrats and the liberal elites in creating a superstructure that exists for the sole purpose of humiliating conservative candidates and spokesmen.

It is proactive, universal, and often quite successful. It has also been virtually ignored by the conservative establishment, which consistently behaves as if American politics is a gentleman’s pastime operating by the same rules that it did in the late 19th century.

It’s not the media, per se, we have to worry about - it’s the vast, numberless hordes of America’s Liberal imbeciles the media find it so very easy to manipulate.

Really? When did the term "yellow journalism" enter the vocabulary?

RE :”Abortion is the worst of these, since media types have learned that conservatives will do or say any crazy thing once the topic is mentioned”

That was certainly true in 2012. GOP candidates seemed to line up and jump over one another to shoot selves in head. They seem much better on it now, took some planning.

Romney wasnt much better with his 47%, he assumed only his $$$ donors were listening,.

Actually a very good article. And spot on as it relates to the truth. Few want truth, they want sweet little lies that don’t challenge their carefully nurtured ideas of the world.

A bright-eyed, attractive kid dead, a perp with a name (Zimmerman! His brother Robert had the exact same name as one of the most notable American Jewish performers of the pasty fifty years) guaranteed to inflame latent black anti-Semitism along with self-abasement from Jewish liberals from Spielberg on down….

But… it didn’t quite come off. It turned out, to start with, that Zimmerman wasn’t Jewish after all. He was not only Hispanic, not only Indio, but in fact had black ancestry. This added more than a touch of uncertainty to the narrative, breaking up the momentum and allowing elements such as Trayvon’s criminal record, the actions of “school police chief” Michael Hurley, and eyewitness testimony to rise to the surface. Obama swung at it anyway. (“If I had a son…[ he’d look like this drugged-out vicious punk.”]) But it just didn’t take.

You're right - long... and amazing insights. J.R. Dunn's one of the top thinkers on our side. If you run a ping list for his stuff - please add me.

I especially liked the comment about Candy Crowley.

Romney should have excoriated her right then and there for taking sides in the debate.

And then, the GOP should have universally ignored her and her network, and pointedly said: until she is fired (not "resigns to pursue other interests"), we aren't talking to CNN.

And they should put the rest of the media on notice: you take sides, you had better be ready to hear only one side of the story, because the only way you will hear ours is on your competitor's network/newspaper.

We cant defeat the liberal press only rich Conservatives can defeat the liberal press by buying media and they don't seem to be interested in doing it. This is the fault of the GOPE elite as well as the elite Dems. I think we should start demanding that they both start paying high taxes and maybe lower them for the rest of us. Make them live up to the consequences of their own decisions.
After all this is all of their fault.

A good start would be to not go on ANY MSM shows and to refuse allowing ANY MSM liberal “ moderators” to host debates. Just refuse to participate.

Very good article.

At a minimum, these upstart conservative candidates need to go to some type of media bootcamp run by a person like Dana Loesch.

The whole “war on women” meme was telegraphed in Jan 2008 by journ-0-list Stephanopolus in one of the early R debates. Limbaugh even picked up on it, but apparently forgot when it came to Flukey Sandy.

You're right. So what we need to do is:

1) bypass the media and take our argument directly to the people. By this I mean lace up the Reeboks, grab the protest signs, and get your a**es back out in the streets (Tea Party, I'm speaking directly to you),
2) quit avoiding arguments with family, friends, co-workers, etc. If someone says something stupid about conservatives, Pubbies, the Tea Party, et al, take them to task. Be sure not not use big, intimidating words that the average Joe Sixpack won't understand. Speak in plain English (no "ostensibly", "amid", "disingenuous" or "juxtaposed"), and make your arguments as simple as possible to follow. Give the Lefties the rope to hang themselves, publicly, and make yourself available to those who witness the debate and may have questions. Bam-o...you have the opportunity to create another conservative fanatic,
3) start writing to every local paper and blog you can find, and call into your local talk shows. Use the local media to spread the truth.
4) hound your investment manager about hedge funds that invest in the media and other pop culture outlets. If they exist, put money into them. If not, find out why they don't. If we can straighten out pop culture, we can reach the low-information majority directly, and finally,
5) support conservative/patriotic/Christian artists, musicians, actors, movie houses, and so on. Promote conservative pop culture. Support blogging and podcasting, and promote them to your friends and associates as much as possible. If you're the creative type, write, record your songs, paint your paintings, whatever it is you do, and join the Big Dawg Music Mafia...you'll have found a home.

Most of all, we have to quit believing the Obammunist Lickspittle Media and Hollyweird are unbeatable leviathans. We can do it, we just have to grow spines and other parts of the anatomy and take the fight to them.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Re: “Romney wasn’t much better with his 47%, he assumed only his $$$ donors were listening.”

I disagree.

Romney said that “tax cuts” have no impact on 47% of voters.

That was because 47% of voters either pay no taxes, or because they receive more government benefits than they do pay in taxes.

The statement was absolutely factual.

What Romney did wrong was stop defending himself.

He buckled, he started apologizing, he begged the MSM to destroy him, and the MSM obliged.

If you are not willing to fight the MSM - and Romney never had the heart for that - you should not run for public office as a Conservative.

The GOP lacks “political discipline” because we are a fragile coalition of about five different political philosophies.

The GOP leadership is clearly center-left, and, culturally, it is openly Progressive.

It is essential that traditional Conservative candidates understand that there will be no “institutional” GOP defense for Conservatives who come under attack by the MSM.

If you are a Conservative, you are completely on your own when that happens.

I'm not sure our problem can be solved.

If Conservatives break away from the GOP, we do not have enough voter support to win the White House, the Senate, or the House.

If we stay in the GOP, we will be forced to abandon our principles and to passively observe the slow motion destruction of America.

Since the Reagan Amnesty in 1986, Democrats have imported 20 million Socialist voters.

Few of them can be converted, and many of them abhor Conservatives and the Republican Party.

I really don't know how we can fix that problem.

It’s a very good article. It’s a reminder that the media is the enemy and has sided with liberal socialism. Even Fox News pretends in so many ways. For example, the 5 o’clock show should be called “Bob Beckel and the Four.” (He gets to respond to every other speaker and he gets a turn to initiate, too.)

I can’t watch the show.

That said, the author’s suggestion that abortionists like Gosnell should be a conservative’s response to an abortion question is going in the right direction, that is, it is going on the offense.

......

I see you get your facts from Rush, here is exactly what he said :

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. And I mean, the president starts off with 48, 49, 48—he starts off with a huge number. These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn't connect. And he'll be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean that's what they sell every four years. And so my job is not to worry about those people—I'll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives. What I have to do is convince the 5 to 10 percent in the center that are independents that are thoughtful, that look at voting one way or the other depending upon in some cases emotion, whether they like the guy or not, what it looks like. I mean, when you ask those people…we do all these polls—I find it amazing—we poll all these people, see where you stand on the polls, but 45 percent of the people will go with a Republican, and 48 or 4…”

Mr $$$ bags thought he was just dissing half of America to those $$$ donors who felt the same way as him, that phony said one thing to them and another thing to us and he got caught.
He just showed himself as the elite snob that he is.

He obviously despises 'the little people'
