Actual slave owners are no longer around but still alive is the entity directly responsible for the perpetuation of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, segregation and the spread of racial hatred for political purposes.

Yes, some Americans died to end slavery, but ending slavery was never American policy. The US invaded the states that sought to separate because the US needed the money and the Mississippi river. That being said: Africans were not the first people enslaved. Classical Greece, Epic Egypt, the Roman Empire, Colonial Spain - even (all gasp here) the “enlightened” Muslims practiced institutional slavery over conquered cultures. The Bible refers to slaves under the ancient Israelites. Until James Watt invented the steam engine almost all work was done with human power or horsepower. In truth, the western European feudal system was the closest to a modern free society before the USA.

Hey, since we are already so far in the national financial hole, I say print the damn money and pay’em off. Give each black person in America a couple thousand dollars. Why not?

Here is the logic: We are screwed financially in this nation with huge deficits, fed. reserve balance sheet, enormous unfunded liabilities. Our nation can never pay back or forward this debt. It is more than the GDP of the entire world...and GROWING.

Print it...print it all. Give the damn poverty pimps what they asking for, reparations. Negotiate the amount as well, but just pay’em off.

Afterward, play the PAYED IN FULL card whenever the reverend Al starts popping off or the reverend Jackson attempts any further extortion. Done! You've been paid, now get over it. Do not ever whine and poor mouth again. We don't want to hear it.

Now, get off your lazy @$$e$ and be productive members of society....or starve! Tired of this endless race/poverty/victim mentality. It's beyond nauseating.

After reading the responses in this thread I see why the Left wins every time.

Are we really so dense we cannot see when we have a winning political hand?

A couple folks did not even read the post, and a couple who did missed the point.

Why did the Atlantic reparations article come out in the past few days?

Because the Left sees it as a winning issue for the upcoming elections.

The non-Left every where and every time needs to say YES to reparations, if it is paid by the only existing responsible party, the Democrats.

Please folks, think about it.

Reparations were paid between 1861 and 1865 in the form of lives lost on a thousand battlefields. For every FIVE SLAVES FREED one soldier paid with his life. Others paid in blood with the loss of arms and legs.

...say YES to reparations, if it is paid by the only existing responsible party, the Democrats.

So...you are in favor of IRS targeting based upon political affiliation.

Interesting.

Look, the Left has already advocated reparations.

The only effective answer at this point is based on facts and justice.

If reparations is to be paid, let it be paid by the ONLY existing entity which was responsible for the harm in the first place, the Democrat Party.

This puts the focus of the issue directly where it belongs: who should pay.

And the ONLY just answer is the Democrat Party, already in favor of reparations.

Then the issue is strictly who is the responsible perpetrator, the Democrats or Every One Else?

Actually, when you think about it, why aren’t the Democrats volunteering to pay reparations?

Lets have this debate, regarding reparations for all the black folks. Which Congress criter will be willing to lead the charge & propose legislation? Who will be taxed and who won’t? Money? Land? Or both? The GOP should support any bill, in exchange for three constitutional amendments. No, reparation bill can go into effect without these amendments being ratified.
1. Ban all abortions.

2. All laws apply equally to all members of Congress and the People.

3. Any person receiving federal or state aid loses the right to vote in any election

“Are we really so dense we cannot see when we have a winning political hand?”

It’s a losing political, financial and power majority hand for my people and my country.

“Please folks, think about it.”

I didn’t have to think about it at all. Wealth redistribution implies civil revolution.

I had relatives in he union army and still have their discharge papers, those who made it out alive. Nobody from my family fought with the confederacy. Those who live in the north are not guilty of racism or of slavery. We keep getting accused by the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Eric Holder and the like, and I don’t like it. It isn’t fair.

Blaming people for crimes only because they share the same skin pigmentation or ethnicity, even though the crimes occurred more than a century ago, sure sounds racist to me. If this was truly an American practice, we would have had our own Kristallnacht when the Rosenbergs gave Russia the bomb.

Hear the passion - waiting to hear the plan.

So far, the IRS only practices financial proctology, not political.

How would one prove to the IRS that one was not a DemonRat (Gibsmedat in honor of the day) and, therefore, not subject to the Reparations Tax?

Please keep in mind that DemonRatz lie, professionally.

TwelveOfTwenty, I am taking flak on this because no one read my post, they just read the headline. And they are posting answers which are utterly irrelevant to what I posted.

I understand the instant negativity, reacting to a buzzword like “reparations,” but I truly wish folks had not been so quick to react and had given the post the chance of a simple reading.

It is extremely rare where the non-Left gets an opening to exploit like this.

This is the chance to ask the Democrat Party to put their money, literally put their money, where their mouth is. Why is that so hard to see?

There is one entity - - the Democrat Party - - which still exists as the same entity. And this entity was TOTALLY responsible for the perpetuation of hatred against black people. And this entity also believes that black people should be paid reparations for the hatred perpetrated against them.

Then why should the Democrat Party, out of party funds, not pay those reparations exclusively?

This is so simple. It is so perfect. It is so just.

Alas. This is why the Left will continue winning.
