I.R.S. Bars Employers From Dumping Workers Into Health Exchanges [Obama acts illegally - again]
New York Times ^ | May 25, 2015 | Robert Pear

WASHINGTON — Many employers had thought they could shift health costs to the government by sending their employees to a health insurance exchange with a tax-free contribution of cash to help pay premiums, but the Obama administration has squelched the idea in a new ruling. Such arrangements do not satisfy the health care law, the administration said, and employers may be subject to a tax penalty of $100 a day — or $36,500 a year — for each employee who goes into the individual marketplace.

Have we come to that?

What is Congress for again?

We are told to keep voting, yet voting is of consequence only in republics.

Since congress has less to do everyday with the regulations we live under, voting will soon be seen as an unnecessary courtesy.

As elections become more raucous and disruptive, the President's media will ask, "why have elections at all?" As long as provision is made for members of congress to continue in their places of honor and profit, most of them won't give a damn.

“he wants revolt.”

It’s not Obama. He doesn’t even know what day it is.

It has taken decades, but Americans are starting to realize the Democrats are their enemy. It took massive (unreported) unemployment and ObamaCare to do it, but it is happening (hopefully not too late).

“I do not have liberal friends. They are the enemy. I do not associate with them. That includes some relatives in California, that I think are totally off their rockers. I do not associate with them either.”

I have also disengaged completely from them; there is no benefit to knowing a liberal. Younger guys might appreciate that lib females are sluts, but I’m way past that; there is nothing I could gain through association with a liberal.

Re your Barackzebub picture: It’s a great graphic. But, I think he looks a little like actor Forrest Whitaker.

It’s unfortunate that you have these kinds of relatives to deal with. I have many relatives but I communicate with only my sister, her husband and their daughters and grandson, all of whom are conservatives. The rest are dead to me and have been for many years.

If an employer wants to help employees buy insurance on their own, Mr. Condeluci said, it can give them higher pay, in the form of taxable wages. But in such cases, he said, the employer and the employee would owe payroll taxes on those wages, and the change could be viewed by workers as reducing a valuable benefit.

Thanks for lifting this paragraph. The title of the article is misleading. Employers CAN and WILL legally dump employees into the exchanges. It will still be cheaper for employers to pay the penalties and taxes associated with that, than it will be to provide Obamacare (with all its requirements) to their employees.

The title makes it seem as if large employers MUST keep providing company based health insurance to their employees, and that is not the case.

This happens all over the country. The common argument is that the community would be *stupid* to not accept all the *free money*.

Water treatment, swimming pools, bike paths, etc. They simply get themselves appointed or elected and then push through these projects that the community cannot afford to maintain and which never add a thing to anyone’s lifestyle without a huge tax raise to cover all the incidentals they never bothered to mention prior. All to give the FedGov leverage all over America.

There is no longer any place left to escape this. It is concerted. The inculcated move to an area and take it over and change it for the worse. Happened in my little corner of the world, too. It used to be Mayberry. It is now almost indistinguishable from any university town. The loons aren’t moving, either. They are now bringing their parents for retirement. The only positive note is their children are not moving back.....yet.

I don't get it with the 30 mile bike paths to nowhere. It is nuts. It is especially nuts when there already nice parks in the community..

Totalitarian thugs love elections... elections butter up their big fat egos.

Remember Saddam Hussein and the joy he felt when 98% of the idiots in his thiefdom voted for him? Ever notice how democrats want MORE people FORCED to vote? Trust me... thugs, criminals, the corrupt ones will never stop the vote.

They'll just make it meaningless via corruption.

Our local bike path was a 15 mile stretch of highway between two small towns that were perfectly bikeable before. They added the *inducement* of *walking paths*. They forced farmers to sell strips of productive land. All based on how stupid we would be to give up $1M in grant funds. Never a mention of the $$ going to favored unionized contractors and no mention of maintenance costs going forward.

My take: since the 70s, “Grants facilitator” has been a *profession*. These people troll the foundation and governmental grants offerings and always write themselves a nice $20k or more *administration grant* to go along with it. When called on this, they then blandly tell the community “no administration fee to me; no grant.” Beats me why no one has said “Fine by me.”

Grants are a huge boondoggle.

There is nothing in Obamacare that gives Obama or the IRS the power to prohibit employers from dumping employees onto Obamacare exchanges,

We have progressed beyond law to anarchy.

You may be right. Hugo Chavez, the Bamster and their despotic ilk see elections as condoning their criminality. He won, get over it, sit down, shut up, do as you are told.

So, perhaps they'll press for elections as long as the outcome is certain to go their way. The 2012 IRS intimidation can only be the beginning of ensuring electoral certainty.

From the White House Web Site:

Finding Insurance Options: For the first time ever, small businesses have access to a new tool that lets them research and compare their health insurance options in one place – HealthCare.gov. Just enter some basic information about your business, and you’ll see a list of all the insurance options available in your area, broken down by how much they cost and what coverage they offer. And starting in 2014, Affordable Insurance Exchanges will make buying health insurance easy. Small business owners will be able to offer their employees a range of plans from different insurers just like big employers do, while still receiving a single bill and writing a single check. They’ll also still be able to choose how much of their employees’ insurance costs they want to cover. And because small business owners will be joining a much bigger risk pool, they’ll no longer be vulnerable to sharp swings in their rates based on the health of a few employees.

They sold this as a way for employers to reduce their insurance costs. Yet now that businesses are doing exactly what they were told they could do, they are now getting fined for it? I believe we are way beyond the time for torches and pitchforks here.

More from the White House Web Site:

Small Business Tax Credit: Small businesses have historically paid 18 percent more for health coverage than larger employees. Today, a tax credit is available to businesses with 25 or fewer full-time-equivalent employees and average wages of $50,000 or less. To get more details and learn whether you might qualify, you should visit the IRS website.

It's in writing. The White House still to this day is telling employers that they can get a tax credit. Yet these employers are discovering how a fascist government really works.

Grants are a huge boondoggle.

In the example I mentioned, the bulk of the money comes from federal transportation bills. The roads are disaster and the feds are building stinking bike trails. SNAFU...
