Tea party: Don't toss out Eric Cantor
WND ^ | 5/29/14 | William Murray

Posted on 05/29/2014 6:55:17 PM PDT by jimbo123

Move to defeat House majority leader: I agree with much of what the tea party stands for and many of the efforts of leaders within it to elect conservatives. The tea party, however, is not one group; it is thousands of major and minor groups across the nation, and it is not possible to agree with all of them or for all of those groups to agree with each other.

Some Virginia tea-party groups are leading the charge to oust House Majority Leader Eric Cantor from his Seventh District seat. These groups have chosen David Brat, a college professor who appears to lean more toward Ayn Rand than either traditional or social conservatism. Brat was once an appointee of former Democrat Gov. Tim Kaine, although that does not automatically make him a liberal. Social conservatives will find a rather lofty but vague pro-life statement listed last among issues at his Internet site. Many of his other positions seem to be libertarian in nature, which makes sense as many tea-party groups are moving in that direction.

The biggest tea-party accusation against Cantor is that he is “too establishment.” The fact that he can move jobs and investments to his Seventh District seems to be a liability to him with tea-party members. It is, in essence, the tea party saying: “The fact that Eric Cantor is the second most powerful man on Capitol Hill and can bring jobs and benefits to our district is proof he is too establishment and we need to get rid of him.”

I appreciate a lot of what the tea party does, but in some of the groups there is a real lack of understanding of the Constitution that is waved around at meetings, when it comes to the duties of congressmen.

It you traced back the conversation were were having you would have seen what we were talking about, which was a hypothetical situation where if Cantor wins the primary that some morons might support his liberal democrat opponent, just like some people are hoping Alison Grimes wins in Kentucky.

Those are “the Flat Earthers”, people who hope the marxist democrat wins if the “tea party” candidate loses the primary plus GOpster was including in that category a fellow who likes to waste time trying to get certain “moderate” democrats, with no money or real hope to win, get elected in safe rat areas where Republicans can’t win (the democrats he choose he had even less chance to win than a Republican). Basically he’s the using the term for everyone out of touch with reality.

While you are correct this is a public forum and you have every right to jump in, it’s not hard to trace back a conversation to see what it’s actually about, rather than jumping in with a hostile accusation. If you don’t know how to trace back a conversion, I can show you.

Anyway, everybody should chillax up in here.

Those who want enemies wearing the other uniform instead of staying in our tent, are not the morons

The people I’m talking about aren’t “staying in the tent” they are openly CHEERLEADING for the election to a 6 year term of a queer marriage supporting, baby killing, tax hiking *itch who would help Obama (or Hillary) put the nail in our coffin if one of our Supreme Court seats became open

Sorry Geron, I’m not cool with that, I think that’s moronic. If they want to draw the line at saying “I can’t support McConnell or 70% of the Republicans because they are all RINO scum”, I still think that’s stupid and suicidal because democrat supermajority in Congress would destory this country in 5 minutes, but I can respect that positon. When they openly hope for the election of a communist just like Obama and Reid want and say it would be “better” for the country if that happened, I draw the line, that in my opinion is pure idiocy.

While on that subject last evening on another thread a freeper explains to me that I am wrong citing text I never posted arguing against something I never even posted a comment about: SOL corrected on argument that he never even touched, ( here at #26)

my reply SOL reply (here at #28)

Looks like he/she responding to text that someone else pinged to me.

That's a recently repeated theme that Mark Levin has been complaining about on his show so naturally it turns up in comments here. Mark says it and it gets repeated here.

You wont see Levin complaining about so-cons who are gleeful that they refused to vote for Romney.

How the hell did that guy ever become everyone’s personal Jesus? He seems to be more popular than Rush around here, in fact he seems to rival the real Jesus with amount of people taking whatever he says as gospel.

AHHHH, grasshopper.

The country is moving leftward with time but Mark offers us a constitution that trumps popularity and elections and Obama, in fact he tells us it even trumps judges and the SCOTUS, even Roberts even Scalia. His constitution trumps everything.

‘The constitution says that I am right....’

That is what he offers. Kind of like the Twilight Zone where the guy goes back (in time apparently) to the small town he grew up in that no longer exists that he longs for.

That is what he offers grasshopper.

McConnell has been actively fighting against conservatives while making nice to the left. He deserves to lose, we should hold the “leadership” to a standard like that.

Yeah, this argument worked great six years ago! The conservatives who cheered on "RINO" Norm Coleman's defeat ("he insulted conservatives cuz he didn't do what I wanted!") sure taught the GOP a lesson not to run RINOs! We're soooo much better off with this guy!

I noticed something similar with CA key races in 2010.

Some CA freepers here were so mad that Meg Whitman got the nomination to CA governor, being a no good RINO, that they actually sided with that illegal Nicky and Gloria Aldridge to help (at least in spirit) Jerry Brown win the governorship.

And look how that worked.

He raised taxes and taxes and regulations and gay marriage and no voter backlash in sight. Lesson?

Then there’s the Carly race against Boxer,

“It appears you came looking for an argument where none needed to exist”

And your conclusion is incorrect. I had simply been browsing the thread and got the impression that GOPsterinMA was equating Tea Party challengers to ‘Flat Earthers’. So I posted “...Evidently to you Tea Party = Flat Earthers...”

It would have been very easy to post “No, that’s not what I meant at all” and that would have been that. It would have answered my mistaken impression. But he didn’t. He chose to be insulting and crude. Maybe your temper doesn’t rise when someone posts insults to you, and if so that is commendable. I usually ignore garbage like

“If you can’t comprehend English, that’s not my problem; it’s yours.”
“You have problems. That’s VERY obvious. And you’re a bore.”
“Thanks! I was on the cusp of taking a dump and you came around - instant poop!”

but this time I decided to keep squeezing his head to see what other manure would leak out.

“...Maybe your temper doesn’t rise when someone posts insults to you, and if so that is commendable...”

No, it typically doesn’t. I’ve long since learned not to let little or petty things bother me. It’s a course of action that more people should learn. There’s very few things out here that I’d allow to rile me.

“....I decided to keep squeezing his head to see what other manure would leak out....”

So you decided to prolong something that didn’t need to be prolonged. Which goes back to my statement - looking for an argument where none need be.

Sometimes, letting stuff roll off is better.
