It is only a matter of time until you hear, “Nixon did it too.”

More and more liberals just sound like little kids. “Well he did it first, he started it”. GOD! We are doomed.

A dozen?

Wow, that could get about 60 GITMO prisoners released to Qatar.

So soldiers were totally confined to their posts??

We're talking about a "I hate America" dude who's looking for the Taliban.

“since 2009”.

That could be significant in and of itself.

Something happened in 2009, I recall, which may have had a devastating effect on morale and confidence in the military.

One doesn’t have to be a “Nostradamus” to see where this Bergdahl affair is going.

1. Bergdahl will never be Court martialed for desertion. At this point, Obama has relieved every senior commander in the U.S. Army who dared to have an opinion other than his, and no officer who values his career would now dare to bring charges on Bergdahl.
2. Bergdalh will remain hospitalized until another “crisis” dominates the MSM news cycle, and then he will be declared 100% disabled due to PTSD as a result of his torture by the Taliban. Staff Sergeant Bergdahl will receive all his back pay and allowances, and due to his 100% PTSD disability, he will receive a Medical Retirement from the U.S. Army and live happily ever after on his tax free Staff Sergeant E-6 retirement pay.
3. We may see SSG Bergdahl again at some future Democrat fund raiser when he appears along with Jane Fonda in support of Hillary Clinton for President.

How many did this in Vietnam, Korea, or during WWII?

The article says that none were charged with desertion, but it also says that none escaped discipline. Some were discharged. One of them massacred civilians in an Afghan village, and is serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to murder.

However, none were captured by the enemy, either. And they didn't set off a months-long manhunt that got soldiers killed.

I can’t imagine why this would be relevant. A thousand thugs rob stores, and only a hundred shoot people in the robbery. Why does it matter that the other 900 robbed stores too? Of the hundred who shot people, only ten will score a kill. Why does the fact that the other 90 get much lighter sentences matter on what to do with the murderers? Of those ten, only one (at most) will shoot the wrong person, in the wrong jurisdiction, and get the death penalty. Again, I don’t see how the actions of others excuse bad actions.

As for Bergdahl, I’m not fond of deserters and traitors. I know (and have always known) that he was not the only one. I consider Obama far worse than Bergdahl. Still, if Bergdahl did desert his post in the field, he is guilty of a serious crime.

Funny that the only person named in the article is a retired military legal beagle who was thousands of miles away. I guess we’re supposed to believe him over those who were on the scene. Sure thing.

My long-ago history professor made it quite clear why Islam spread at high speed.. The message then was “Convert or DIE,” and it probably still is... in that area.

“There is no evidence that any of the soldiers who walked off post were charged with any form of desertion or intended to join the enemy. All were disciplined in various ways, the military sources said.”

Unlike Bergdal.

ABC is starting to give Bergdahl cover for deserting.

At this point , what difference does it make?

Seriously, the issue is not “walking off” post, the issue is deserting and deliberately seeking to join up with the enemy, which none of the examples cited in this article did.

That puts Bergdahl in a class by himself.
