Lewis Fuddy Jr.'s Loretta Fuddy died of an irregular heartbeat that was triggered when the plane she was riding in lost power and crash-landed off the Hawaiian island of Molokai in December.
A engine manufacturer in Canada is to blame for a small plane's ocean landing and the death of Hawaii's former health director, her brother said in a lawsuit filed Monday.
Lewis Fuddy Jr. is suing Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. and Makani Kai Air Charters over the Dec. 11 crash-landing. His 65-year-old sister Loretta Fuddy was a passenger on the flight and died of an irregular heartbeat, police said, that was triggered when the plane lost power and crash-landed off the Hawaiian island of Molokai in December.

Makani Kai Air Charters has been in business since 1998, and this is their first accident. Everyone survived except Fuddy, who apparently had a heart condition. I wonder if she had been diagnosed with a heart condition, and if so what kind of treatment or medication was she taking?

I believe enzymes are released into the bloodstream during the event. These enzymes can be detected postmortem.
Her brother claims she had no heart condition, & was healthy. I guess he never noticed she was obese & likely sedentary? Anyway, people speculate she might not have mentioned any/all the health issues she may have had with her brother. Only her personal physician could say for sure.

Doesn’t sound like her brother knew anything about her having any heart problems.

I scratch my head wondering how they could land/crash in an area where scuba diver(s) moved Fuddy away from the group. I too think she is in the Foster, Brown and O’bame gramme grouping.

In 30-plus years the NTSB had investigated 2 cases of commercial Cessna 208B’s having catastrophic engine failures (neither of them related to overheating). Then 3 days after Doug Vogt named Loretta Fuddy as a defendant in a criminal complaint there was a Cessna crash. Within 50 days and 25 miles of that crash there was ANOTHER crash - this one the only one of ANY of these Cessna crashes that resulted in a death, and that after Fuddy was already out of the water and bobbing safely in the water in a life jacket, according to witnesses at the time. In the video of the crash, there are about 10 extra people seen in the water in the first minutes after the crash - before the first help arrived about an hour after the crash. And the official reports are fraught with serious discrepancies.
In both of these very recent cases in HI, the NTSB allowed the air company to access the planes after the crash in spite of NTSB requirements that the sites be treated as crime scenes. And when Makani Kai (the company who owned the Fuddy Cessna) finally lifted the Fuddy Cessna from the water a week after the crash, the fuselage was in tatters, with the engine completely pulled away from the rest of the plane. It had been resting on a shelf 60-70 feet underwater, below the action of the waves.
Fuddy’s brother, on the day the “cause of death” was released, said she had no heart condition and was healthy as a horse. He was puzzled by that finding for the COD.
Probably a turbine blade failure.

I know that sounds crazy but stranger things have happened in families.
She was a tad overweight and 65 years old.
Imho, this is much like the bank robbery gone bad, where the person who drove the getaway car is considered to be as culpable as the person who shot the bank guard.
