I am a bit taken back that Boeing engineers are just figuring this out. In all the wing formations flown during bombing raids in WWII, did no one ever think of this to get planes short on fuel back to base?

And what about how a peloton forms an echelon in the wind. Sheez, half the folks at Boeing ride bikes to work. You'd link one of them would have mentioned this somewhere along the line...

And this is Breaking News how????
To: Baynative
I suggest that you get in formation and follow others in the FR vortex as it will save a lot of space in the breaking news column.

Yeah, like we need more space in breaking news for the stories about all the folks standing in line for HRC’s book signing.
And then the 20 a day “The Clintons are broke” threads.

Being an engineer, you might be curious as to how Boeing engineers find this to be breaking news.
I remember being told, in grade school, that nomadic tribes used to walk single file into head winds long, long ago.
