Interesting. Is this a classic example of the Nanny State interfering in our marriages and our lives?
Or a natual result and benefit of conservatve efforts to stem the destruction of the Welfare State by upholding marriage?

Obviously you CAN legislate morality. The question has always been - Whose morality? The left or the right?

Is this a classic example of the Nanny State interfering in our marriages and our lives? Just a reminder that kids count too.
Divorce used to be hard to get.

During a recent child custody case I was involved with, all parties to the lawsuit were required to take this type of class.

If I know were not in love anymore, I dont feel like I should go to any class, just move on with our lives,
Homeboy shows why we’ve lost the Sodomite “marriage” debate. When Marriage is just about two people being in love, getting married to make sex more convenient, how can we keep the fudgepackers out?

I think it should be harder to get married than divorced.

THANK GOD!
As a high school teacher, divorce is frequently the difference between the kids in regular and honors classes.
Parents rarely think about kids when they divorce, but the kids rarely think about anything else.

It's certainly not a case of "interference" when a divorce -- by definition -- involves one or both parties seeking the eradication of a legal relationship that was established under the recognition of the State.

“If I know we’re not in love anymore, I don’t feel like I should go to any class, just move on with our lives,” Yeah. Just move on. And leave your children to struggle and fail, because after all - you're not in love anymore.

Parents rarely think about kids when they divorce, but the kids rarely think about anything else. You are correct. I was the exception that's all I thought about. I stayed in a bad marriage for 18 years because of them but the stress of the marriage was driving me insane and the kids could feel the tension. Anyone who stepped in our house could. It pained me to leave but I had to. I am extremely sad not being with my kids everyday but being in that marriage was impossible.

Parents rarely think about kids when they divorce, but the kids rarely think about anything else. You can say that again. I know I've said this before, but I STILL can't get over my mother saying, 'Why don't you want me to be happy?' when I protested her divorcing my father. As if she was the only one whose feelings mattered.

We’ve had these classes in our county for twenty plus years. If the parents file too many motions, then there’s a sixteen week course they can end up having to attend. (one night a week)

The Christians? Dominion is The Christians? Nah. If i were blaming The Christians, i would blame myself. I oppose this measure. As a small non interventionist conservative Christian. Sorry.

A marriage license should cost $10,000, a divorce 10 cents... with the person requesting the divorce walking away with nothing but the clothes on their back.
