As jihadists take aim at Baghdad, Iran steps in to help historical foe

Iran is coming to the aid of its historic nemesis, sending elite fighters to Iraq in the wake of a Sunni insurgency that has claimed two key northern cities and now threatens Baghdad, Fox News has learned.

Some 150 fighters from the Revolutionary Guards elite Quds force have already been dispatched by Tehran, and the division's powerful commander, Qassem Suleimani, met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Thursday and pledged to send two notorious Iranian brigades to aid in the defense of Baghdad. That could amount to as many as 10,000 soldiers sent to fight the Sunni group known as Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).

Maliki is believed to be considering the offer, especially in light of reported decisions by the U.S. to reject his request for American airstrikes.

Sounds like Z%^& gave Iran the farm (Iraq) in the secret meetings deal over Nuclear Weapons.....because a lot of the weapons these terrorists are using are too sophisticated to be theirs, and we have lots of stuff missing over there after Benghazi?

I’m depressed about the prospects for anything positive for the United States here.

But the Muzzies may choose to renew their Sunni / Shia blood feud.

I guess I could stand by and watch them kill a few million of one another.

The Middle East would be cleaner when done.

Iranians are Shiites and thus are allied with people in the Maliki government.

The ISIL attackers are Sunnis, and want to kill as many people, non-Muslim or even non-Sunni, as they can.

Many tons of equipment have gone missing, so some of it will be in use there in the ME, and some will no doubt be used here in the US.

But that doesn’t bother Bambi.

It would be fine if they’d keep it in the ME. But they won’t.

For one thing, this ISIL group is setting up the “global caliphate” and actually dug out the border between Iraq and Syria today.

Might be talking about IRAN getting involved.

I was talking to some other intel analysts today and put forth the idea that all along, the jihadi have been planning this since their involvement in Syria — while we funneled weapons and supplied thinking they were about to take out Assad - they built up a huge warehouse that is now exploding south from Mosul to Baghdad.

Everyone needs to understand one thing - the SUNNIS do not or ever wanted a SHIA POWER in the Middle East.

The number one priority for Iran to have a nuclear bomb is to counter Sunni encroachment all stemming from Saudi Arabia and funded by Bahrain. They would use it first against Arab...remember, Iranians are Persian.

Second they would use it against Israel — but as we all look at Iraq right now - Iran is using the Al Quds to counter - and they will be permanently staying “IF” they turn the Sunni aggression and force it back into Syria.

There’s a lot going on right now - that US politicians and US News personalities don’t understand...in the end, Sunnis want a Caliphate and will slaughter the Shia - then turn their attention on to us once more. That’s the future threat we all need to appreciate and accept. We need to elect leaders that also understand that threat and make sure we have the force to halt it - then destroy it.
