Kevin McCarthy of California, the House Republican Whip, is running hard to win Eric Cantors post as Majority Leader, and claims he has the votes locked up. But except for the big office and the security detail, and the power and the glory its hard to know why he really wants the job.
Its no fun leading a caucus that resembles a raucous playground, split up into camps that agree on little but their unwavering contempt for President Obama. Almost immediately after winning it, he will become as large an object of ridicule by the hard right as was Mr. Cantor, though he is far better liked on a personal level.

The Liberals are really showing a lot of concern for the Republicans.
Raul Labrador just jumped into the race.
What do you think of him?
An increase in the debt ceiling does not equal a default on the debt. If that is the case, the US is bankrupt already, just waiting for the filing.
As the elites work to defeat Labrador...it’s interesting that the DC class is so microfocused on hispanic relations, but are now focused on a two-pronged attack...one on Cuban Ted Cruz...the other on Puerto Rican Raul Labrador. There goes the NY Slimes again. Telling Republicans what they’re doing wrong. Because they want the Republican to succeed, you see.
You would think that an organization that is unable to operate a newspaper would hesitate to give others advise on how to run their business.
Well, he and Sessions should adequately split the Conservative vote so that McCarthy and the GOP-E can hold on to Majority Leader.
So why does the Majority Leader rate a security detail?
Sessions isn’t running. Heard him this morning on Bennett’s radio show.
Rino elitism uber alles. How else are you going to secure money and power?
That's easy. He has it out for conservatives and wants to block any TEA Party influence in the House.
Is it possible that Sessions bowed out to support Labrador?
Go Labrador, sick ‘em!
When you are taking flak, you know you are over the target!
