Arizona to investigate 'Doggie Disneyland' where 20 dogs died

Authorities are investigating the deaths of 20 dogs at Green Acre Kennel, in Gilbert, Arizona. The place had billed itself as a "Doggie Disneyland" promising plenty of land for dogs to run free with no cages.

To Ryan Ingraham and his wife, it sounded like a great place to board their two black Labradors while they took a vacation.

Ingraham had contacted MaLeisa and Todd Hughes, owners of the business, two months ago. Then about a week ago, he decided to take the dogs to the Hughes' house for a trial run.

True, but home security systems feature options that monitor your home for many other things besides fires and burglaries.

Tragically, the same vet clinic that hurt Odin’s neck also had their entire pack of kenneled dogs burn alive because, believe it or not, *they had no smoke detectors*.

None.

In a place of business.

Incredible.

They really played it to the hilt though and had everyone feeling sorry for *them*.

It’s run by a liberal wench.

Go figure.

Ugh.

Even the mere mention of that name causes a spike in blood pressure.

Well they would have needed a remote alarm. Dogs are not going to let themselves out upon hearing a smoke alarm.

Had to take care of my uncle and aunt’s spoiled cocker spaniel once. Could not lead him by the collar out the door. He’d just chomp at my hand. Solved the problem by making a trail of potato chips out the door, which he’d follow then go out in the yard.

The system calls your cell phone, the alarm company and the cops/fire dept., if necessary.

Somebody would have known.

She tried to eat the Alienware tech last week.

To his credit, he was unflappable.

Not sure if bribery would work on her or Odin since they will not accept treats unless I okay it.

Funny about the chips.

:)

I know it’s bull. Here’s hoping that Sheriff Joe feels the same way.

I know. I lived there and joined JD in 2nd. Amendment and anti-illegals protests! I couldn’t believe it when they elected Flake to the Senate.

I expect the Disney corporation to take legal action to make sure their name isn’t associated with this mess. These folks could be looking at a huge lawsuit for use of the name.

Common sense and the most meager knowledge of dogs would have seen that done, already.

As would have a licensed and inspected facility......this bunch think they are above the law. Been all over the new here (8 miles away).

The lead article complains that Arpaio’s attention was so badly being monopolized by illegal immigrant affairs that he was unable to respond satisfactorily to sexual assault crimes or this apparent fraud and animal cruelty crime. I have no way of knowing if this complaint is an accurate or even reasonable accusation.

Blame there goes to the county supervisors who refused to fund the processing of rape kits or otherwise prioritize the cases. The child welfare snafu is more of the same plus old time nepotism.

If I owned a dog, I would ask to see the entire facility before deciding to leave my dog there - and if I was not allowed, I would not leave them.

Its so hard to know who to trust these days. Incompetent people are everywhere!

We have one dog at a time and they all have had different personalities. The one we have now is a chewer. When we leave we put remotes, etc. up where she can’t get them or she will chew them up. She chewed up a comforter in the guest room so now I make sure the door is closed.
What kind of people don’t foresee boarding a dog that is a chewer?

Dog chewed through the power cord to the air conditioner.

About 30 years ago, I had a waterbed. Waterbeds have a heating element under the mattress to keep the water from getting too cold. It connects to a dial usually mounted to the frame that allows the user to select the temperature. I remember being overly cold one night, so I drowsily reached down to the dial, only to receive a nasty shock. My dog at the time (a Sheltie) had chewed clean through the connecting cord and I had reached down and touched the bare wire. Dunno how she survived the shock.

Yeah, but “racially profiling” is a “scandal” for Sheriff Arpaio. Yeah. Jackasses.

According to Sheriff Joe’s FB post, there is a posse looking for a missing dog from the kennel.

MCSD has a six person, full time animal abuse unit, in case someone wants to know.
